<enactingFormula style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><i>  Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa­tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</i></enactingFormula>
<section id="d118246e85" identifier="/us/pl/117/213/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>TERM FOR APPOINTMENT OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE GOVERNMENT PUBLISHING OFFICE.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y8acaad1c-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/213/s1/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><chapeau><ref href="/us/usc/t44/s301">Section 301 of title 44, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y8acaad1d-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/213/s1/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>(a)</quotedText>” before “<quotedText>The President</quotedText>”; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y8acaad1e-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/213/s1/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following:<quotedContent><subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y8acad42f-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">“(b) </num><content>The Director shall be appointed for a term of 10 years.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y8acad430-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">“(c) </num><content>An individual appointed to the position of Director, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, may be reappointed to that position in accordance with subsections (a) and (b).”</content></subsection>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y8acad431-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/213/s1/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Application to Incumbent</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>If there is an individual serving in the position of Director of the Government Publishing Office, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, on the date of enactment of this Act—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y8acad432-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/213/s1/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>the amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to the appointment of such individual; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y8acad433-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/213/s1/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x8acad434-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Effective date.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x8acad435-e819-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t44/s301">44 USC 301 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><content>the term of the individual for purposes of subsection (b) of <ref href="/us/usc/t44/s301">section 301 of title 44, United States Code</ref>, as added by subsection (a), shall be considered to have started on the date on which the individual assumed the office of Director of the Government Publishing Office.</content></paragraph>
