<section id="d66317e88" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xb0247125-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t38/s101">38 USC 101 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Supporting Families of the Fallen Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d66317e103" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>INCREASE IN AUTOMATIC MAXIMUM COVERAGE UNDER SERVICEMEMBERS’ GROUP LIFE INSURANCE AND VETERANS’ GROUP LIFE INSURANCE.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yb024bf46-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content><ref href="/us/usc/t38/s1967/a/3/A/i">Section 1967(a)(3)(A)(i) of title 38, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>$400,000</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>$500,000</quotedText>”.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yb024bf47-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s2/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xb024bf48-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t38/s1967">38 USC 1967 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><inline class="smallCaps">Effective Date</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on the later of—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yb024bf49-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s2/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>the date that is 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act; or</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yb024bf4a-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s2/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xb024bf4b-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determinations.</p></sidenote><chapeau>the date on which the Secretary of Veterans Affairs determines that—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yb024bf4c-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s2/b/2/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>the amount for which a member will be insured pursuant to the amendment made by subsection (a) and the premiums for such amount are administratively and actuarially sound for the Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance program under <ref href="/us/usc/t38/ch19/schIII">subchapter III of chapter 19 of title 38, United States Code</ref>, and the Veterans’ Group Life Insurance program under section 1977 of such title; and<page identifier="/us/stat/136/2244">136 STAT. 2244</page></content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yb024bf4d-e819-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/209/s2/b/2/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>the increase in such amount carried out pursuant to the amendment will not result in such programs operating at a loss.</content></subparagraph>
