<section id="d123243e92" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Greatest Generation Commemorative Coin Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d123243e102" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>FINDINGS.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x713f25b7-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  The Congress finds the following:</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25b8-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>The National World War II Memorial was dedicated in Washington, DC, on May 29, 2004, and is located on the east end of the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall, opposite the Lincoln Memorial and west of the Washington Monument.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25b9-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>The dedication of the National World War II Memorial was the culmination of a 17-year effort that started on December 10, 1987 when the World War II Memorial Act was first introduced in the House of Representatives, and was authorized by an Act of Congress signed into law on May 25, 1993. Construction began September 4, 2001, after several years of fundraising and public hearings.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25ba-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>Opening to the public on April 29, 2004, the World War II Memorial is the first national memorial dedicated to all who served during World War II and acknowledges the commitment and achievement of the entire Nation.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25bb-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/4" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">(4) </num><content>The Memorial honors the more than 16,000,000 who served in the Armed Forces of the United States during World War II, the more than 400,000 who died, and the millions who supported the war effort from home.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25bc-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/5" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="5">(5) </num><content>It is a monument to the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of the American people to the common defense of the Nation and to the broader causes of peace and freedom from tyranny throughout the world.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25bd-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/6" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="6">(6) </num><content>Today, the Memorial is a top destination for millions of annual visitors from all over the country and the world. For many young visitors, their visit to the Memorial is a first glimpse to a grateful Nation’s remembrance of the sacrifices made by the World War II generation.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25be-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/7" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="7">(7) </num><content>For World War II veterans, the Memorial is a special destination, a rendezvous point, and a gathering place for reunions and commemoration programs.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25bf-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/8" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="8">(8) </num><content>The Friends of the National World War II Memorial play a vital role in the preservation and maintenance of the <page identifier="/us/stat/136/1350">136 STAT. 1350</page>
National World War II Memorial as a treasure for the American people, while helping to facilitate key commemorative and educational programs at the Memorial to pay tribute to America’s “Greatest Generation” and their efforts to preserve liberty for generations to come.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713f25c0-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s2/9" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="9">(9) </num><content>The National World War II Memorial stands as an important symbol of America’s national unity, a timeless reminder of the moral strength and power that flows when free people are at once united and bonded together in a common and just cause for liberty.</content></paragraph>

<section id="d123243e159" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading>COIN SPECIFICATIONS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y713f9af1-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Denominations</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Secretary of the Treasury (hereafter in this Act referred to as the “Secretary”) shall mint and issue the following coin:</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc202-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">$5 gold coins<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><chapeau>Not more than 50,000 $5 coins, which shall—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc203-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/1/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>weigh 8.359 grams;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc204-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/1/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>have a diameter of 0.850 inches; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc205-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/1/C" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">(C) </num><content>contain not less than 90 percent gold.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc206-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">$1 silver coins<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><chapeau>Not more than 400,000 $1 coins, which shall—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc207-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/2/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>weigh 26.73 grams;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc208-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/2/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>have a diameter of 1.500 inches; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc209-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/2/C" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">(C) </num><content>contain not less than 90 percent silver.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc20a-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Half-dollar clad coins</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Not more than 750,000 half-dollar coins which shall—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc20b-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/3/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>weigh 11.34 grams;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc20c-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/3/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>have a diameter of 1.205 inches; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y713fc20d-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/a/3/C" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">(C) </num><content>be minted to the specifications for half-dollar coins contained in <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s5112/b">section 5112(b) of title 31, United States Code</ref>.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y713fc20e-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Legal Tender</inline>.—</heading><content>The coins minted under this Act shall be legal tender, as provided in <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s5103">section 5103 of title 31, United States Code</ref>.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y713fc20f-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s3/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Numismatic Items</inline>.—</heading><content>For purposes of sections 5134 and 5136 of <ref href="/us/usc/t31">title 31, United States Code</ref>, all coins minted under this Act shall be considered to be numismatic items.</content></subsection>

<section id="d123243e276" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="4">SEC. 4. </num><heading>DESIGNS OF COINS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y71400f30-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Design Requirements</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71400f31-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In general</inline>.—</heading><content>The designs of the coins minted under this Act shall be emblematic of the National World War II Memorial and the service and sacrifice of American soldiers and civilians during World War II.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71400f32-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Designation and inscriptions</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>On each coin minted under this Act there shall be—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y71400f33-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/a/2/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>a designation of the value of the coin;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y71400f34-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/a/2/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>an inscription of the year “2024”; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y71400f35-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/a/2/C" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">(C) </num><content>inscriptions of the words “Liberty”, “In God We Trust”, “United States of America”, and “E Pluribus Unum”.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y71400f36-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Selection</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The designs for the coins minted under this Act shall be—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71400f37-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x71400f38-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Consultation.</p></sidenote><content>selected by the Secretary after consultation with the Commission of Fine Arts and the Friends of the National World War II Memorial; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71400f39-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s4/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x71400f3a-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Review.</p></sidenote><content>reviewed by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee.<page identifier="/us/stat/136/1351">136 STAT. 1351</page></content></paragraph>
</subsection>
</section>
<section id="d123243e350" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s5" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="5">SEC. 5. </num><heading>ISSUANCE OF COINS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y7140364b-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s5/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Quality of Coins</inline>.—</heading><content>Coins minted under this Act shall be issued in uncirculated and proof qualities.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y7140364c-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s5/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Period for Issuance</inline>.—</heading><content>The Secretary may issue coins minted under this Act only during the 1-year period beginning on January 1, 2024.</content></subsection>

<section id="d123243e373" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="6">SEC. 6. </num><heading>SALE OF COINS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y71405d5d-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Sale Price</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The coins issued under this Act shall be sold by the Secretary at a price equal to the sum of—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71405d5e-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>the face value of the coins;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71405d5f-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>the surcharge provided in section 7(a) with respect to such coins; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71405d60-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/a/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>the cost of designing and issuing the coins (including labor, materials, dies, use of machinery, overhead expenses, marketing, and shipping).</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y71405d61-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Bulk Sales</inline>.—</heading><content>The Secretary shall make bulk sales of the coins issued under this Act at a reasonable discount.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y71405d62-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Prepaid Orders</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71405d63-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/c/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In general</inline>.—</heading><content>The Secretary shall accept prepaid orders for the coins minted under this Act before the issuance of such coins.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y71405d64-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s6/c/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Discount</inline>.—</heading><content>Sale prices with respect to prepaid orders under paragraph (1) shall be at a reasonable discount.</content></paragraph>

<section id="d123243e437" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="7">SEC. 7. </num><heading>SURCHARGES.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y7140ab85-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>All sales of coins issued under this Act shall include a surcharge of—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y7140ab86-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>$35 per coin for the $5 coin;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y7140ab87-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>$10 per coin for the $1 coin; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y7140ab88-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7/a/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>$5 per coin for the half-dollar coin.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y7140ab89-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Distribution</inline>.—</heading><content>Subject to <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s5134/f">section 5134(f) of title 31, United States Code</ref>, all surcharges received by the Secretary from the sale of coins issued under this Act shall be promptly paid by the Secretary to the Friends of the National World War II Memorial to support the National Park Service in maintaining and repairing the National World War II Memorial, and for educational and commemorative programs.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y7140ab8a-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Audits</inline>.—</heading><content>The Friends of the National World War II Memorial shall be subject to the audit requirements of <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s5134/f/2">section 5134(f)(2) of title 31, United States Code</ref>, with regard to the amounts received under subsection (b).</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y7140ab8b-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s7/d" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">(d) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Limitation</inline>.—</heading><content>Notwithstanding subsection (a), no surcharge may be included with respect to the issuance under this Act of any coin during a calendar year if, as of the time of such issuance, the issuance of such coin would result in the number of commemorative coin programs issued during such year to exceed the annual 2 commemorative coin program issuance limitation under <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s5112/m/1">section 5112(m)(1) of title 31, United States Code</ref> (as in effect on the date of the enactment of this Act). The Secretary of the Treasury may issue guidance to carry out this subsection.</content></subsection>

<section id="d123243e505" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s8" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="8">SEC. 8. </num><heading>FINANCIAL ASSURANCES.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x7140d29c-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  The Secretary shall take such actions as may be necessary to ensure that—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y7140d29d-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s8/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>minting and issuing coins under this Act will not result in any net cost to the United States Government; and<page identifier="/us/stat/136/1352">136 STAT. 1352</page></content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y7140d29e-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/162/s8/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>no funds, including applicable surcharges, shall be disbursed to any recipient designated in section 7 until the total cost of designing and issuing all of the coins authorized by this Act (including labor, materials, dies, use of machinery, overhead expenses, marketing, and shipping) is recovered by the United States Treasury, consistent with sections 5112(m) and 5134(f) of <ref href="/us/usc/t31">title 31, United States Code</ref>.</content></paragraph>
