<section id="d81496e85" identifier="/us/pl/117/137/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>AUTHORITY OF SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS TO TRANSFER NAMES OF FACILITIES, STRUCTURES, OR REAL PROPERTY OF DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y502426b9-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/137/s1/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><chapeau><ref href="/us/usc/t38/s531">Section 531 of title 38, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y502426ba-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/137/s1/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>in the section heading, by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText><b>Requirement</b></quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText><b>Requirements</b></quotedText>”;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y502426bb-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/137/s1/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>Except as expressly provided by law</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> the following:<quotedContent><subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y502426bc-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">“(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Naming Limitation</inline>.—</heading><content>Except as expressly provided by law or as authorized under subsection (b)”</content></subsection>
</quotedContent>; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y502426bd-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/137/s1/a/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following:<quotedContent><subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y502474de-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">“(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Transfer of Names</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y502474df-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In general</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Secretary may transfer the name of covered property of the Department to other covered property of the Department if—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y502474e0-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>the original covered property was designated with that name by law;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y502474e1-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>the Department no longer offers benefits or services at the original covered property;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y502474e2-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">“(C) </num><content>the other covered property is similar in type and purpose as the original covered property;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y502474e3-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="D">“(D) </num><content>the other covered property is located in a different location or at a different address from the original covered property within the town, city, or other local government area specified in the designation made by such law; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y502474e4-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="E">“(E) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x502474e5-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x502474e6-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Notification.</p></sidenote><content>such transfer occurs not less than 30 days after the Secretary notifies the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the Senate, the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the House of Representatives, and each member of Congress representing the State in which the original covered property and other covered property are located of the intent of the Secretary to transfer the name of the original covered property to the other covered property.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y50249bf7-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">References</inline>.—</heading><content>If the Secretary transfers the name of covered property under paragraph (1), any reference in a law, regulation, map, document, paper, or other record of the United <page identifier="/us/stat/136/1255">136 STAT. 1255</page>
States to the covered property originally named by law shall be deemed to be a reference to the covered property to which the name has been transferred under such paragraph.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y50249bf8-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">“(3) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x50249bf9-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Definition.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Covered property</inline>.—</heading><content>In this subsection, the term ‘<term>covered property</term>’ means a facility, structure, or real property of the Department or a major portion (such as a wing or floor) of any such facility, structure, or real property.”</content></paragraph>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y50249bfa-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/117/137/s1/b" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Clerical Amendment</inline>.—</heading><content>The table of sections at the beginning of <ref href="/us/usc/t38/ch5">chapter 5 of title 38, United States Code</ref>,<sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x50249bfb-e81c-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t38/s501">38 USC 501</ref> prec.</p></sidenote> <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> the item relating to section 531 and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> the following new item:<quotedContent><toc>
