<section id="d125965e88" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xcf1f52bd-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2051">15 USC 2051 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Safe Sleep for Babies Act of 2021</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d125965e103" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xcf1f52be-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2057d">15 USC 2057d</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>BANNING OF INCLINED SLEEPERS FOR INFANTS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="ycf1f79cf-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s2/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xcf1f79d0-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p></sidenote>Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, inclined sleepers for infants, regardless of the date of manufacture, shall be considered a banned hazardous product under section 8 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2057">15 U.S.C. 2057</ref>).</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="ycf1f79d1-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s2/b" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Inclined Sleeper for Infants Defined</inline>.—</heading><content>In this section, the term “<term>inclined sleeper for infants</term>” means a product with an inclined sleep surface greater than ten degrees that is intended, marketed, or designed to provide sleeping accommodations for an infant up to 1 year old.<?q01?></content></subsection>

<section id="d125965e140" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s3" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xcf1f79d2-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2057e">15 USC 2057e</ref>.<?q01?></p></sidenote><heading>BANNING OF CRIB BUMPERS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="ycf1fa0e3-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s3/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xcf1fa0e4-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p></sidenote>Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, crib bumpers, regardless of the date of manufacture, shall be considered a banned hazardous product under section 8 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2057">15 U.S.C. 2057</ref>).</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="ycf1fa0e5-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s3/b" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Crib Bumper Defined</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In this section, the term “<term>crib bumper</term>”—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="ycf1fa0e6-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s3/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>means any material that is intended to cover the sides of a crib to prevent injury to any crib occupant from impacts against the side of a crib or to prevent partial or complete access to any openings in the sides of a crib to prevent a crib occupant from getting any part of the body entrapped in any opening;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="ycf1fa0e7-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s3/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>includes a padded crib bumper, a supported and unsupported vinyl bumper guard, and vertical crib slat covers; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="ycf1fa0e8-e81c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/126/s3/b/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner.</content></paragraph>
