<section id="d247578e92" identifier="/us/pl/115/86/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">VA Prescription Data Accountability Act 2017</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d247578e102" identifier="/us/pl/115/86/s2" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS DISCLOSURE OF PATIENT INFORMATION TO STATE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE MONITORING PROGRAMS.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x29f5ba15-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  <ref href="/us/usc/t38/s5701/l">Section 5701(l) of title 38, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y29f5ba16-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/86/s2/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>(1)</quotedText>” before “<quotedText>Under</quotedText>”;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y29f5ba17-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/86/s2/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>a veteran or the dependent of a veteran</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>a covered individual</quotedText>”; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y29f5ba18-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/86/s2/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following new paragraph:<quotedContent><paragraph class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y29f5ba19-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><content>In this subsection, a ‘covered individual’ is an individual who is dispensed medication prescribed by an employee of the Department or by a non-Department provider authorized to prescribe such medication by the Department.”</content></paragraph>
