<section id="d247956e92" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Power And Security Systems (PASS) Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d247956e102" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>EXTENSION OF NONAPPLICATION OF NO-LOAD MODE ENERGY EFFICIENCY STANDARD TO CERTAIN SECURITY OR LIFE SAFETY ALARM OR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y742e1f19-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><chapeau>Section 325(u)(3)(D)(ii) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s6295/u/3/D/ii">42 U.S.C. 6295(u)(3)(D)(ii)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y742e1f1a-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s2/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>2015</quotedText>” each place it appears and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>2021</quotedText>”; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y742e1f1b-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s2/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>2017</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>2023</quotedText>”.</content></paragraph>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y742e1f1c-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s2/b" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><chapeau>Section 325(u)(3)(E) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s6295/u/3/E">42 U.S.C. 6295(u)(3)(E)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y742e1f1d-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s2/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>in clause (ii), by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>July 1, 2017,</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>the effective date of the amendment under subparagraph (D)(ii)</quotedText>”; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y742e1f1e-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/78/s2/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following:<quotedContent><clause class="indentUp2 fontsize10" id="y742e1f1f-e82c-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="iv">“(iv) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Treatment in rule</inline>.—</heading><content>In the rule under subparagraph (D)(ii) and subsequent amendments the Secretary may treat some or all external power supplies designed to be connected to a security or life safety alarm or surveillance system as a separate <page identifier="/us/stat/131/1257">131 STAT. 1257</page>
product class or may extend the nonapplication under clause (ii).”</content></clause>
