<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d383634-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/s2/1/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate;</content></subparagraph>

<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d383638-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/s2/3" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Peace corps volunteer</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>Peace Corps volunteer</term>” means an individual described in section 5(a) of the Peace Corps Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s2504/a">22 U.S.C. 2504(a)</ref>).<page identifier="/us/stat/132/3651">132 STAT. 3651</page></content></paragraph>

<title id="d287166e291" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI" style="-uslm-lc:I658178"><num value="I">TITLE I—</num><heading>PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEER SUPPORT</heading>
<section id="d287166e296" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101" style="-uslm-lc:I658143"><num class="fontsize12" value="101">SEC. 101. </num><heading>PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEER MEDICAL CARE REFORM.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d38d279-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Peace Corps Act <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d38d27a-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><chapeau>in section 5 (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s2504">22 U.S.C. 2504</ref>)—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d38d27b-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/a/1/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>in subsection (e), in the first sentence, by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>receive such immunization and dental care preparatory to their service</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>receive, preparatory to their service, such immunization, dental care, and information on prescription options and potential interactions, as necessary and appropriate and in accordance with subsection (f)</quotedText>”;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d38d27c-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/a/1/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>by re-designating subsections (f), (g), (h), (i), (j), (k), (l), (m), and (n) as subsections (g), (h), (i), (j), (k), (l), (m), (n), and (o);</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d38d27d-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/a/1/C" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">(C) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> after subsection (e) the following new subsection—<quotedContent><subsection class="indentDown2 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d38f98e-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="f">“(f) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d38f98f-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Consultation.</p></sidenote><content>The Director of the Peace Corps shall consult with health experts outside the Peace Corps, including experts licensed in the field of mental health, and follow guidance by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the prescription of medications to a volunteer.”</content></subsection>

<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d38f990-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/a/1/D" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="D">(D) </num><content>in subsection (i), as so redesignated, by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>section, and</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>section), and</quotedText>”; and</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d38f991-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> after section 5 the following new section:<quotedContent><section class="centered fontsize12" id="y3d3947b2-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658142"><num class="fontsize12" value="5A">“SEC. 5A. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3947b3-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">President.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3947b4-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t22/s2504a">22 USC 2504a</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize12">HEALTH CARE FOR VOLUNTEERS AT PEACE CORPS POSTS.</heading><subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3947b5-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">“(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>The President shall ensure that each overseas post has the services of a medical office that is consistent in size and scope with the needs of the Peace Corps at such post, including, if necessary, by detailing to any such post the licensed medical staff of other United States departments, agencies, or establishments.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3947b6-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">“(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Hiring Criteria</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In selecting medical officers and support staff for overseas Peace Corps posts, the Director of the Peace Corps shall hire well-qualified and capable personnel to support the effectiveness of health care for Peace Corps volunteers by evaluating each candidate’s—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947b7-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><content>medical training, experience, and accreditations or other qualifications;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947b8-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><content>record of performance;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947b9-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">“(3) </num><content>administrative capabilities;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947ba-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">“(4) </num><content>understanding of the local language and culture;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947bb-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="5">“(5) </num><content>ability to work in the English language;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947bc-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="6">“(6) </num><content>interpersonal skills; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947bd-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="7">“(7) </num><content>such other factors that the Director determines appropriate.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3947be-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">“(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Certain Training</inline>.—</heading><content>The Director of the Peace Corps shall ensure that each Peace Corps medical officer serving in a malaria-endemic country receives training in the recognition of the side effects of such medications.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3947bf-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">“(d) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Review and Evaluation</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947c0-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In general</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Director of the Peace Corps, acting through the Associate Director of the Office of Health Services and the country directors, shall review and evaluate the <page identifier="/us/stat/132/3652">132 STAT. 3652</page>
performance and health care delivery of all Peace Corps medical staff, including medical officers, to—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947c1-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>ensure compliance with all relevant Peace Corps policies, practices, and guidelines; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947c2-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>ensure that medical staff complete the necessary continuing medical education to maintain their skills and satisfy licensing and credentialing standards, as designated by the Director.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947c3-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Report to congress</inline>.—</heading><content>The Director of the Peace Corps shall include, in the annual Peace Corps congressional budget justification, a confirmation that the review and evaluation of all Peace Corps medical staff required under paragraph (1) has been completed.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3947c4-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="e">“(e) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3947c5-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Consultation.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Antimalarial Drugs</inline>.—</heading><content>The Director of the Peace Corps shall consult with experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding recommendations for prescribing malaria prophylaxis, in order to provide the best standard of care within the context of the Peace Corps environment.”</content></subsection>

<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947c9-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Semiannual reports</inline>.—</heading><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947ca-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/b/2/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Initial report</inline>.—</heading><content>Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director shall submit a report to the appropriate congressional committees that describes the Director’s strategy for implementing the recommendations referred to in paragraph (1).</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947cb-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/b/2/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Subsequent reports</inline>.—</heading><content>Not later than 180 days after the submission of the report required under subparagraph (A), and semiannually thereafter, the Director shall submit a report to the appropriate congressional committees that describes the progress in implementing the recommendations referred to in paragraph (1) until all such recommendations have been implemented in accordance with the agency’s response to the report referred to in such paragraph.</content></subparagraph>

<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3947cc-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s101/b/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Notification</inline>.—</heading><content><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3947cd-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determination.</p></sidenote>After the submission of each report required under paragraph (2), the Inspector General of the Peace Corps may notify the appropriate congressional committees of any recommendations from the report referred to in paragraph (1) that the Inspector General determines remain unresolved.</content></paragraph>

<section id="d287166e572" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s102" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658143"><num class="fontsize12" value="102">SEC. 102. </num><heading>POST-SERVICE PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEER MEDICAL CARE REFORM.</heading><content class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x3d396ede-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s8142">Section 8142 of title 5, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following new subsection:<quotedContent><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3995ef-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">“(d)</num><paragraph class="inline" id="y3d3995f0-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c"><num value="1">(1) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3995f1-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Time period.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3995f2-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Certification.</p></sidenote><content>The Secretary shall authorize the Director of the Peace Corps to furnish medical benefits to a volunteer, who is injured during the volunteer’s period of service, for a period of 120 days following the termination of such service if the Director certifies <page identifier="/us/stat/132/3653">132 STAT. 3653</page>
that the volunteer’s injury probably meets the requirements under subsection (c)(3). The Secretary may then certify vouchers for these expenses for such volunteer out of the Employees’ Compensation Fund.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3995f3-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><content>The Secretary shall prescribe the form and content of the certification required under paragraph (1).</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3995f4-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">“(3) </num><content>A certification under paragraph (1) will cease to be effective if the volunteer sustains compensable disability in connection with volunteer service.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3995f5-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">“(4) </num><content>Nothing in this subsection may be construed to authorize the furnishing of any medical benefit that the Secretary of Labor is not otherwise authorized to reimburse for former Peace Corps volunteers who receive treatment for injury or disease proximately caused by their service in the Peace Corps in accordance with this chapter.”</content></paragraph>

<section id="d287166e624" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103" style="-uslm-lc:I658143"><num class="fontsize12" value="103">SEC. 103. </num><heading>PEACE CORPS IMPACT SURVEY.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d39e416-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d39e417-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadlines.</p></sidenote>Beginning not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act and once every 2 years thereafter for the following 6 years, the Director shall conduct a survey of former Peace Corps volunteers.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d39e418-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Scope of Survey</inline>.—</heading><chapeau><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d39e419-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Assessment.</p></sidenote>The survey required under subsection (a) shall assess, with respect to each former Peace Corps volunteer completing the survey, the impact of the Peace Corps on the former volunteer, including the volunteer’s—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d39e41a-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>well-being;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d39e41b-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>career;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d39e41c-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/b/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>civic engagement; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d39e41d-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/b/4" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">(4) </num><content>commitment to public service.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d39e41e-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Report</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Director shall submit a report containing the results of the survey conducted under subsection (a) to—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d39e41f-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/c/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d39e420-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/c/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d39e421-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s103/c/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate; and</content></paragraph>

<section id="d287166e704" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tI/s104" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658143"><num class="fontsize12" value="104">SEC. 104. </num><heading>EXTENSION OF POSITIONS FOR PEACE CORPS EMPLOYEES.</heading><content class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x3d3a0b33-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 7(a) of the Peace Corps Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s2506/a">22 U.S.C. 2506(a)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following new paragraph:<quotedContent><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a3244-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="8">“(8)</num><subparagraph class="inline" id="y3d3a3245-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c"><num value="A">(A) </num><chapeau>The Director of the Peace Corps may designate Peace Corps positions as critical management or management support positions that require specialized technical or professional skills and knowledge of Peace Corps operations. Such positions may include positions in the following fields:</chapeau><clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a5956-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">“(i) </num><content>Volunteer health services.</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a5957-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content>Financial management.</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a5958-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="iii">“(iii) </num><content>Information technology.</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a5959-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="iv">“(iv) </num><content>Procurement.</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a595a-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="v">“(v) </num><content>Personnel.</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a595b-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="vi">“(vi) </num><content>Legal services.</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a595c-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="vii">“(vii) </num><content>Safety and security.</content></clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="indentUp0 fontsize10" id="y3d3a595d-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>Subject to subparagraphs (C) and (D), with respect to positions designated pursuant to subparagraph (A), the Director may make or extend renewable appointments or assignments under paragraph (2) notwithstanding limitations <page identifier="/us/stat/132/3654">132 STAT. 3654</page>
under subparagraphs (A) and (B) of paragraph (2) and paragraph (5).</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="indentUp0 fontsize10" id="y3d3a595e-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">“(C) </num><chapeau>In exercising authority under subparagraph (B), the Director shall ensure that all decisions regarding the appointment, assignment, or extension of employees to any position designated pursuant to subparagraph (A)—</chapeau><clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a595f-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">“(i) </num><content>are consistent with Federal law and Peace Corps policy; and</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3a5960-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content>are based upon operational and programmatic factors.</content></clause>

<clause class="indentUp0 fontsize10" id="y3d3bb81c-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content>a description of any steps the Peace Corps plans to take to inquire further into the cause or root cause of the death of the volunteer, including the anticipated date of the completion of such inquiry; or</content></clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3bb81d-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><chapeau>an explanation of why the Peace Corps has determined that no further inquiry into the cause or root cause of the death of the volunteer is necessary, including—<page identifier="/us/stat/132/3656">132 STAT. 3656</page></chapeau><clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3bb81e-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">“(i) </num><content>a description of the steps the Peace Corps took to determine further inquiry was not necessary; and</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y3d3bb81f-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content>the basis for such determination.</content></clause>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3bb820-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3bb821-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">President.</p></sidenote><chapeau>If the Peace Corps has performed or engaged another entity to perform a root cause analysis or similar report that describes the cause or root cause of a volunteer death, the President shall provide the Inspector General of the Peace Corps with—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3bb822-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>a copy of all information provided to such entity at the time such information is provided to such entity or used by the Peace Corps to perform the analysis;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3bb823-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>a copy of any report or study received from the entity or used by the Peace Corps to perform the analysis; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3bb824-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">“(C) </num><content>any supporting documentation upon which the Peace Corps or such entity relied to make its determination, including the volunteer’s complete medical record, as soon as such information is available to the Peace Corps.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3bb825-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">“(3) </num><content>If a volunteer dies, the Peace Corps shall take reasonable measures, in accordance with local laws, to preserve any information or material, in any medium or format, that may be relevant to determining the cause or root cause of the death of the volunteer, including personal effects, medication, and other tangible items belonging to the volunteer, as long as such measures do not interfere with the legal procedures of the host country if the government of the host country is exercising jurisdiction over the investigation of such death. The Inspector General of the Peace Corps shall be provided an opportunity to inspect such items before their final disposition.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3bb826-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">“(4) </num><content>Consistent with the Inspector General Act of 1978 (<ref href="/us/usc/t5/app">5 U.S.C. App.</ref>), the Inspector General of the Peace Corps may independently review the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of a volunteer and the actions taken by the Peace Corps in responding to such incident.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3bb827-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="5">“(5) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3bb828-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Time period.</p></sidenote><content>For the purposes of undertaking a review under this section, an officer or employee of the United States or a member of the Armed Forces may be detailed to the Inspector General of the Peace Corps from another department of the United States Government on a nonreimbursable basis, as jointly agreed to by the Inspector General and the detailing department, for a period not to exceed 1 year. This paragraph may not be construed to limit or modify any other source of authority for reimbursable or nonreimbursable details. A nonreimbursable detail made under this section may not be considered an augmentation of the appropriations of the Peace Corps.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3bb829-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="6">“(6) </num><content>Upon request, the Peace Corps may make available necessary funds to the Inspector General of the Peace Corps for reviews conducted by the Inspector General under this section. The request shall be limited to costs relating to hiring, procuring, or otherwise obtaining medical-related experts or expert services, and associated travel.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3bb82a-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="7">“(7) </num><content>The undertaking of a review under this section may not be considered a transfer of program operating responsibilities to the Inspector General of the Peace Corps.”</content></paragraph>

<section id="d287166e1144" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s302" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658143"><num class="fontsize12" value="302">SEC. 302. </num><heading>ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURES TO APPLICANTS FOR ENROLLMENT AS VOLUNTEERS.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x3d3bdf3b-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 8A of the Peace Corps Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s2507a/d">22 U.S.C. 2507a(d)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—<page identifier="/us/stat/132/3657">132 STAT. 3657</page></chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3bdf3c-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s302/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="amend">amending</amendingAction> subsection (d) to read as follows:<quotedContent><subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3c064d-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">“(d) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Information Regarding Crimes and Risks</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c064e-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In general</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Each applicant for enrollment as a volunteer shall be provided, with respect to each country in which the applicant may be invited to serve, with specific, aggregated, and easily accessible information regarding crimes against and risks to volunteers, including—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c064f-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>an overview of past crimes against volunteers in such country, including statistics regarding unreported crime collected through anonymous surveys;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c0650-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>the current early termination rate of volunteers serving in such country;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c0651-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">“(C) </num><content>health risks prevalent in such country;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c0652-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="D">“(D) </num><content>the nature and frequency of sexual harassment reported by volunteers serving in such country;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c0653-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="E">“(E) </num><content>the extent and types of services provided by the Peace Corps to volunteers serving in such country, including access to medical care, counseling services, and assistance from the Office of Victim Advocacy; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c0654-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="F">“(F) </num><content>the level of satisfaction reported by volunteers serving in such country.</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c0655-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Option to timely decline</inline>.—</heading><content>Upon receiving information described in paragraph (1), the applicant shall have the option to change the country of consideration and identify a substitute country.”</content></paragraph>

<paragraph class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3c7b90-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="8">“(8) </num><content>takes into account the record maintained under paragraph (7) before such employee or volunteer is hired, enrolled, or otherwise invited to work with the Peace Corps;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3c7b91-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="9">“(9) </num><chapeau>provides orientation or information regarding the awareness and prevention of sexual assault and sexual harassment to—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c7b92-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>Peace Corps-selected host families; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c7b93-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>a designated person of authority at the volunteer’s initial workplace; and<page identifier="/us/stat/132/3658">132 STAT. 3658</page></content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3c7b94-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="10">“(10) </num><chapeau>ensures, to the extent practicable and appropriate, that any assault on, or any harm or injury to, a volunteer that is committed by any member of a host family or any national of a host country that was assigned by the Peace Corps to facilitate volunteer work is—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c7b95-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>documented in an appropriate site history file and in the global tracking and recording system established pursuant to section 8H(c); and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3c7b96-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>taken into account with respect to determinations regarding placements of future volunteers at such post and the provision of any funds or other benefit by the Peace Corps.”</content></subparagraph>

<section id="d287166e1365" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s304" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658143"><num class="fontsize12" value="304">SEC. 304. </num><heading>EXTENSION OF THE OFFICE OF VICTIM ADVOCACY.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x3d3ca2a7-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 8C of the Peace Corps Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s2507c">22 U.S.C. 2507c</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3ca2a8-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s304/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>victim advocate</quotedText>” each place it appears and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>Victim’s Advocate</quotedText>”;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3ca2a9-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s304/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>victim advocates</quotedText>” each place it occurs and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>Victim’s Advocates</quotedText>”; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3ca2aa-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s304/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="amend">amending</amendingAction> subsection (e) to read as follows:<quotedContent><subsection class="indentDown1 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3d3ca2ab-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="e">“(e) </num><content>The Director of the Peace Corps shall include the head of the Office of Victim Advocacy in agency-wide policymaking processes in the same manner and to the same extent as the directors or associate directors of other offices within the Peace Corps.”</content></subsection>

<section id="d287166e1419" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s305" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658143"><num class="fontsize12" value="305">SEC. 305. </num><heading>REFORM AND EXTENSION OF THE SEXUAL ASSAULT ADVISORY COUNCIL.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x3d3cf0cc-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 8D of the Peace Corps Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s2507d">22 U.S.C. 2507d</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3cf0cd-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s305/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><chapeau>in subsection (b)—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3d3cf0ce-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/256/tIII/s305/1/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3cf0cf-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">President.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3d3cf0d0-e835-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p></sidenote><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>not less than 8 individuals selected by the President, not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this section,</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>not fewer than 8 and not more than 14 individuals selected by the President</quotedText>”; and</content></subparagraph>
