<section id="d152897e88" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Fort Ontario Study Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d152897e98" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>DEFINITIONS.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x44e4eeab-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  In this Act:</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e4eeac-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s2/1" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Secretary</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>Secretary</term>” means the Secretary of the Interior.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e4eead-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s2/2" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Study area</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>study area</term>” means Fort Ontario in Oswego, New York.</content></paragraph>

<section id="d152897e123" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading>FORT ONTARIO SPECIAL RESOURCE STUDY.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y44e53cce-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>The Secretary shall conduct a special resource study of the study area.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y44e53ccf-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Contents</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In conducting the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e53cd0-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x44e53cd1-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Evaluation.</p></sidenote><content>evaluate the national significance of the study area;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e53cd2-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x44e53cd3-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determination.</p></sidenote><content>determine the suitability and feasibility of designating the study area as a unit of the National Park System;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e53cd4-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/b/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>consider other alternatives for preservation, protection, and interpretation of the study area by the Federal Government, State or local government entities, or private and nonprofit organizations;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e53cd5-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/b/4" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">(4) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x44e53cd6-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Consultation.</p></sidenote><content>consult with interested Federal agencies, State or local governmental entities, private and nonprofit organizations, or any other interested individuals; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e53cd7-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/b/5" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="5">(5) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x44e53cd8-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Cost estimates.</p></sidenote><content>identify cost estimates for any Federal acquisition, development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance associated with the alternatives.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y44e53cd9-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Applicable Law</inline>.—</heading><content>The study required under subsection (a) shall be conducted in accordance with <ref href="/us/usc/t54/s100507">section 100507 of title 54, United States Code</ref>.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y44e53cda-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/d" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">(d) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Report</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are first made available to carry out the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report that describes—</chapeau><page identifier="/us/stat/132/3649">132 STAT. 3649</page>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e53cdb-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/d/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>the results of the study; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y44e53cdc-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/255/s3/d/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>any conclusions and recommendations of the Secretary.</content></paragraph>
