<section id="d156264e89" identifier="/us/pl/115/238/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT<sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xd4f879d4-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t5/s101">5 USC 101 note</ref>.</p></sidenote> TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Veterans Providing Healthcare Transition Improvement Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d156264e106" identifier="/us/pl/115/238/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>DISABLED VETERAN LEAVE FOR HEALTH-CARE PROFESSIONALS IN VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yd4f8a0e5-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/238/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content><ref href="/us/usc/t5/s6329/d/1">Section 6329(d)(1) of title 5, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> to read as follows:<quotedContent><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yd4f8a0e6-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xd4f8a0e7-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Definition.</p></sidenote><chapeau>the term ‘<term>employee</term>’ has the meaning given such term in section 2105, and includes—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yd4f8a0e8-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>an officer or employee of the United States Postal Service or the Postal Regulatory Commission; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yd4f8a0e9-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>notwithstanding subsection (a) of section 7421 of title 38, an individual occupying a position listed in subsection (b) of such section;”</content></subparagraph>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yd4f8a0ea-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/238/s2/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xd4f8a0eb-e835-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t5/s6329">5 USC 6329 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Applicability</inline>.—</heading><content>With respect to a position listed in <ref href="/us/usc/t38/s7421/b">section 7421(b) of title 38, United States Code</ref>, the amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply to any individual appointed to such a position on or after the date of enactment of this Act.</content></subsection>
