<section id="d308523e85" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xacdd3a55-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381">2 USC 1381 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF OFFICE OF COMPLIANCE.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yacdd8876-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Appointment of Members</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yacdd8877-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Members replacing members whose terms expire in march 2017</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Notwithstanding the first sentence of section 301(e) of the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 (<ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381/e">2 U.S.C. 1381(e)</ref>), of the members of the Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance who are appointed to replace the 3 members whose terms expire in March 2017—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yacdd8878-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/a/1/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>one shall have a term of office of 3 years; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yacdd8879-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/a/1/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>2 shall have a term of office of 4 years,</content></subparagraph>
<continuation class="firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="xacdd887a-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122">as designated at the time of appointment by the persons specified in section 301(b) of such Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381/b">2 U.S.C. 1381(b)</ref>).</continuation></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yacdd887b-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Members replacing members whose terms expire in may 2017</inline>.—</heading><content>In accordance with the first sentence of section 301(e) of the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 (<ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381/e">2 U.S.C. 1381(e)</ref>), the members of the Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance who are appointed to replace the 2 members whose terms expire in May 2017 shall each have a term of office of 5 years.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yacddaf8c-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Service of Current Members</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Notwithstanding the second sentence of section 301(e) of the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 (<ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381/e">2 U.S.C. 1381(e)</ref>) or section 3 of the Office of Compliance Administrative and Technical Corrections Act of 2015 (<ref href="/us/pl/114/6">Public Law 114–6</ref>; <ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381">2 U.S.C. 1381 note</ref>)—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yacddaf8d-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>an individual serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance whose term expires in March 2017 may be reappointed to serve one additional term at the length designated under paragraph (1) of subsection (a), but may not be reappointed to any additional terms after that additional term expires; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yacddaf8e-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>an individual serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance whose term expires in May 2017 may be reappointed to serve one additional term at the length referred to in paragraph (2) of subsection (a), but may not be reappointed to any additional terms after that additional term expires.<page identifier="/us/stat/131/85">131 STAT. 85</page></content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yacddaf8f-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/c" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Permitting Members To Serve Until Appointment of Successors</inline>.—</heading><content>Section 301(e) of the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 (<ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381/e">2 U.S.C. 1381(e)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following new paragraph:<quotedContent><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yacddaf90-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">“(3) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Permitting service until appointment of successor</inline>.—</heading><content>A member of the Board may serve after the expiration of that member’s term until a successor has taken office.”</content></paragraph>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yacddaf91-e837-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/115/19/s1/d" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">(d) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Authority of Congressional Leadership in Making Appointments</inline>.—</heading><content>Section 301(b) of the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 (<ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1381/b">2 U.S.C. 1381(b)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> the period at the end of the second sentence and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> the following: “<quotedText>, who are authorized to take such steps as they consider appropriate to ensure the timely appointment of the members of the Board consistent with the requirements of this section.</quotedText>”.</content></subsection>
