<section id="d182627e92" identifier="/us/pl/115/114/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Connected Government Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d182627e102" identifier="/us/pl/115/114/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>FEDERAL WEBSITES REQUIRED TO BE MOBILE FRIENDLY.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y0158818f-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/114/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Amendment</inline>.—</heading><content><ref href="/us/usc/t44/ch35/schII">Subchapter II of chapter 35 of title 44, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following new section:<quotedContent><section class="centered fontsize12" id="y0158a8a0-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658164"><num class="fontsize12" value="3559">“§ 3559.</num><heading class="fontsize12"><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x0158a8a1-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t44/s3559">44 USC 3559</ref>.</p></sidenote> Federal websites required to be mobile friendly</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y0158a8a2-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">“(a) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x0158a8a3-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Time period.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>If, on or after the date that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this section, an agency creates a website that is intended for use by the public or conducts a redesign of an existing legacy website that is intended for use by the public, the agency shall ensure to the greatest extent practicable that the website is mobile friendly.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y0158a8a4-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">“(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Definitions</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In this section:</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y0158a8a5-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Agency</inline>.—</heading><content>The term ‘<term>agency</term>’ has the meaning given that term in section 551 of title 5.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y0158a8a6-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Mobile friendly</inline>.—</heading><content>The term ‘<term>mobile friendly</term>’ means, with respect to a website, that the website is configured in such a way that the website may be navigated, viewed, and accessed on a smartphone, tablet computer, or similar mobile device.”</content></paragraph>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y0158a8a7-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/114/s2/b" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Technical and Conforming Amendment</inline>.—</heading><content>The table of sections at the beginning of <ref href="/us/usc/t44/ch35">chapter 35 of title 44, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x0158a8a8-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t44/s3501">44 USC 3501</ref> prec.<?GPOvSpace 04?></p></sidenote> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> after the item related to section 3558 the following new item:<quotedContent><toc>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y0158a8a9-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/114/s2/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x0158a8aa-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x0158a8ab-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Consultation.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x0158a8ac-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Public information.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Report by OMB and GSA Required</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Not later than 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, in consultation with the Administrator of General Services, shall make publicly available and submit to Congress a report that—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y0158a8ad-e83a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/115/114/s2/c/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>describes the implementation of the requirement described under <ref href="/us/usc/t44/s3559">section 3559 of title 44, United States Code</ref>, as added by subsection (a); and<page identifier="/us/stat/131/2279">131 STAT. 2279</page></content></paragraph>
