<section id="d323839e94" identifier="/us/pl/114/62/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Gold Star Fathers Act of 2015</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d323839e104" identifier="/us/pl/114/62/s2" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>PREFERENCE ELIGIBLE TREATMENT FOR FATHERS OF CERTAIN PERMANENTLY DISABLED OR DECEASED VETERANS.</heading><content class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x125c0317-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s2108/3">Section 2108(3) of title 5, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> subparagraphs (F) and (G) and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> the following:<quotedContent><subparagraph class="indentUp2 fontsize10" id="y125c2a28-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="F">“(F) </num><chapeau>the parent of an individual who lost his or her life under honorable conditions while serving in the armed forces during a period named by paragraph (1)(A) of this section, if—</chapeau><clause class="fontsize10" id="y125c2a29-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">“(i) </num><content>the spouse of that parent is totally and permanently disabled; or</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y125c2a2a-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content>that parent, when preference is claimed, is unmarried or, if married, legally separated from his or her spouse;</content></clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="indentUp2 fontsize10" id="y125c2a2b-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="G">“(G) </num><chapeau>the parent of a service-connected permanently and totally disabled veteran, if—</chapeau><clause class="fontsize10" id="y125c2a2c-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">“(i) </num><content>the spouse of that parent is totally and permanently disabled; or</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y125c2a2d-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content>that parent, when preference is claimed, is unmarried or, if married, legally separated from his or her spouse; and”</content></clause>

<section id="d323839e158" identifier="/us/pl/114/62/s3" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x125c2a2e-e846-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t5/s2108">5 USC 2108 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>EFFECTIVE DATE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  The amendment made by this Act shall take effect 90 days after the date of enactment of this Act.</content></section>
