<section id="d331787e88" identifier="/us/pl/114/246/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x107eb236-e858-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t20/s2101">20 USC 2101 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Gold Star Families Voices Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d331787e103" identifier="/us/pl/114/246/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>COLLECTION OF VIDEO AND AUDIO RECORDINGS OF BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORIES BY IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS OF MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES WHO DIED AS A RESULT OF THEIR SERVICE DURING A PERIOD OF WAR.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y107ed947-e858-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/114/246/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>Paragraph (1) of section 3(a) of the Veterans’ Oral History Project Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t20/s2142/a/1">20 U.S.C. 2142(a)(1)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> to read as follows:<quotedContent><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y107f0058-e858-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><chapeau>to collect video and audio recordings of—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y107f0059-e858-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>personal histories and testimonials of veterans of the Armed Forces who served during a period of war; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y107f005a-e858-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>biographical histories by immediate family members of members of the Armed Forces who became missing in action or died as a result of their service during a period of war;”</content></subparagraph>

<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y107f005b-e858-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/114/246/s2/b" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Conforming Amendment</inline>.—</heading><content>Section 3 of the Veterans’ Oral History Project Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t20/s2142">20 U.S.C. 2142</ref>) is further amended by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following new subsection:<quotedContent><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y107f005c-e858-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">“(d) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Definition of Immediate Family Member</inline>.—</heading><content>For purposes of subsection (a), the term ‘<term>immediate family member</term>’ means a parent, spouse, sibling, or child.”</content></subsection>
