<section id="d233419e88" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xca797953-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t42/s18501">42 USC 18501 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Treatment of Certain Payments in Eugenics Compensation Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d233419e103" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xca797954-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t42/s18501">42 USC 18501</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>EXCLUSION OF PAYMENTS FROM STATE EUGENICS COMPENSATION PROGRAMS FROM CONSIDERATION IN DETERMINING ELIGIBILITY FOR, OR THE AMOUNT OF, FEDERAL PUBLIC BENEFITS.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yca79c775-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s2/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>Notwithstanding any other provision of law, payments made under a State eugenics compensation program shall not be considered as income or resources in determining eligibility for, or the amount of, any Federal public benefit.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="yca79c776-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s2/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Definitions</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>For purposes of this section:</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yca79c777-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s2/b/1" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Federal public benefit</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The term “<term>Federal public benefit</term>” means—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yca79c778-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s2/b/1/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>any grant, contract, loan, professional license, or commercial license provided by an agency of the United States or by appropriated funds of the United States; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="yca79c779-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s2/b/1/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>any retirement, welfare, health, disability, public or assisted housing, postsecondary education, food assistance, unemployment benefit, or any other similar benefit for which payments or assistance are provided to an individual, household, or family eligibility unit by an agency of the United States or by appropriated funds of the United States.<page identifier="/us/stat/130/977">130 STAT. 977</page></content></subparagraph>

<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="yca79c77a-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/114/241/s2/b/2" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="xca79c77b-e858-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t42/s1320b–7">42 USC 1320b–7 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">State eugenics compensation program</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>State eugenics compensation program</term>” means a program established by State law that is intended to compensate individuals who were sterilized under the authority of the State.</content></paragraph>
