<enactingFormula style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><i>  Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa­tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</i></enactingFormula>
<section id="d372991e85" identifier="/us/pl/113/42/s1" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT-TERM EXTENSION OF SPECIAL IMMIGRANT PROGRAM.</heading><content class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x9aa3de89-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 1244(c)(3) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 (<ref href="/us/usc/t8/s1157">8 U.S.C. 1157 note</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following:<quotedContent><subparagraph class="indentUp2 fontsize10" id="y9aa3de8a-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">“(C) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Fiscal year 2014</inline>.—</heading><clause class="fontsize10" id="y9aa4059b-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">“(i) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In general</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Except as provided in clauses (ii) and (iii), the total number of principal aliens who may be provided special immigrant status under this section during the first 3 months of fiscal year 2014 shall be the sum of—</chapeau><subclause class="fontsize10" id="y9aa4059c-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658128"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="I">“(I) </num><content>the number of aliens described in subsection (b) whose application for special immigrant status under this section is pending on September 30, 2013; and</content></subclause>
<subclause class="fontsize10" id="y9aa4059d-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658128"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="II">“(II) </num><content>2,000.</content></subclause>

<clause class="fontsize10" id="y9aa4059e-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">“(ii) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Employment period</inline>.—</heading><content>The 1-year period during which the principal alien is required to have been employed by or on behalf of the United States Government in Iraq under subsection (b)(1)(B) shall begin on or after March 20, 2003, and end on or before September 30, 2013.</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y9aa4059f-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="iii">“(iii) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Application deadline</inline>.—</heading><content>The principal alien seeking special immigrant status under this subparagraph shall apply to the Chief of Mission in accordance with subsection (b)(4) not later than December 31, 2013.”</content></clause>

<section id="d372991e149" identifier="/us/pl/113/42/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x9aa405a0-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t8/s1351">8 USC 1351 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>TEMPORARY FEE INCREASE FOR CERTAIN CONSULAR SERVICES.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y9aa42cb1-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/113/42/s2/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of State, not later than January 1, 2014, shall increase the fee or surcharge authorized under section 140(a) of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1994 and 1995 (<ref href="/us/pl/103/236">Public Law 103–236</ref>; <ref href="/us/usc/t8/s1351">8 U.S.C. 1351 note</ref>) by $1 for processing machine-readable nonimmigrant visas and machine-readable combined border crossing identification cards and nonimmigrant visas.<page identifier="/us/stat/127/553">127 STAT. 553</page></content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y9aa42cb2-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/113/42/s2/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Deposit of Amounts</inline>.—</heading><content>Notwithstanding section 140(a)(2) of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1994 and 1995 (<ref href="/us/pl/103/236">Public Law 103–236</ref>; <ref href="/us/usc/t8/s1351">8 U.S.C. 1351 note</ref>), the additional amount collected pursuant the fee increase authorized under subsection (a) shall be deposited in the general fund of the Treasury.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y9aa42cb3-e87a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/113/42/s2/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Sunset Provision</inline>.—</heading><content>The fee increase authorized under subsection (a) shall terminate on the date that is 2 years after the first date on which such increased fee is collected.</content></subsection>
