<section id="d296363e92" identifier="/us/pl/113/152/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Improving Trauma Care Act of 2014</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d296363e102" identifier="/us/pl/113/152/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>TRAUMA DEFINITION.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="ya3d5ce1a-e893-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/113/152/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Revised Definition Under Trauma Systems Grants Programs</inline>.—</heading><content>Paragraph (4) of section 1231 of the Public Health Service Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s300d–31">42 U.S.C. 300d–31</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> to read as follows:<quotedContent><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="ya3d5ce1b-e893-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">“(4) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Trauma</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The term ‘<term>trauma</term>’ means an injury resulting from exposure to—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="ya3d5ce1c-e893-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>a mechanical force; or</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="ya3d5ce1d-e893-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>another extrinsic agent, including an extrinsic agent that is thermal, electrical, chemical, or radioactive.”</content></subparagraph>
