    <main style="-uslm-dtd:legis-body"><longTitle><docTitle style="-uslm-dtd:legis-type">AN ACT</docTitle><officialTitle style="-uslm-dtd:official-title">To extend the program of block grants to States for temporary assistance for needy families and related programs through December 31, 2011.</officialTitle></longTitle><enactingFormula style="-uslm-dtd:enacting-clause">Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/112/35/s1" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><editorialNote style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference" role="uscRef"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t42/s1305">42 U.S.C. 1305 note</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">SHORT TITLE. </heading>
            <content style="-uslm-dtd:text" class="block">This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote"><inline style="-uslm-dtd:short-title">Short-Term TANF Extension Act</inline></shortTitle>”.</content>
        </section>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/112/35/s2" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">EXTENSION OF THE TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES PROGRAM AND RELATED PROGRAMS THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2011. </heading>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/112/35/s2/a" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In General.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Activities authorized by part A of title IV and section 1108(b) of the Social Security Act (other than under subsections (a)(3) and (b) of section 403 of such Act) shall continue through December 31, 2011, in the manner authorized for fiscal year 2011, and out of any money in the Treasury of the United States not otherwise appropriated, there are hereby appropriated such sums as may be necessary for such purpose. Grants and payments may be made pursuant to this authority on a quarterly basis through the first quarter of fiscal year 2012 at the level provided for such activities for the corresponding quarter of fiscal year 2011.</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/112/35/s2/b" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Maintenance of Effort.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 409(a)(7) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 609(a)(7)) is amended—</chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/112/35/s2/b/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subparagraph (A), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">or 2012</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">2012, or 2013</quotedText>”; and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/112/35/s2/b/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subparagraph (B)(ii), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">2011</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">2012</quotedText>”.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
        </section>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/112/35/s3" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">BUDGETARY EFFECTS. </heading>
            <content style="-uslm-dtd:text" class="block">The budgetary effects of this Act, for the purpose of complying with the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2010, shall be determined by reference to the latest statement titled “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Budgetary Effects of PAYGO Legislation</quotedText>” for this Act, submitted for printing in the    Congressional Record by the Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, provided that such statement has been submitted prior to the vote on passage.</content>
