    <main style="-uslm-dtd:legis-body"><longTitle><docTitle style="-uslm-dtd:legis-type">AN ACT</docTitle><officialTitle style="-uslm-dtd:official-title">To amend the Public Health Service Act to enhance activities of the National Institutes of Health with respect to research on autism spectrum disorder and enhance programs relating to autism, and for other purposes.</officialTitle></longTitle><enactingFormula style="-uslm-dtd:enacting-clause">Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s1" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><editorialNote style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference" role="uscRef"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t42/s201">42 U.S.C. 201 note</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">SHORT TITLE. </heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education, and Support Act of 2019</shortTitle>” or the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Autism CARES Act of 2019</shortTitle>”.</content>
        </section>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">EXPANSION, INTENSIFICATION, AND COORDINATION OF ACTIVITIES OF THE NIH WITH RESPECT TO RESEARCH ON AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER. </heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 409C of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 284g) is amended—</chapeau>
            <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/1" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (a)(1)—</chapeau>
                <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/1/A" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in the first sentence, by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">and toxicology</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">toxicology, and interventions to maximize outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorder</quotedText>”; and</content>
                </subparagraph>
                <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/1/B" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking the second sentence and inserting the following:  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Such research shall investigate the causes (including possible environmental causes), diagnosis or ruling out, early and ongoing detection, prevention, services across the lifespan, supports, intervention, and treatment of autism spectrum disorder, including dissemination and implementation of clinical care, supports, interventions, and treatments.</quotedText>”;</content>
                </subparagraph>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/2" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (b)—</chapeau>
                <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/2/A" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (2)—</chapeau>
                    <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/2/A/i" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in the second sentence, by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">cause</quotedText>” and all that follows through  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">disorder</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">causes, diagnosis, early and ongoing detection, prevention, and treatment of autism spectrum disorder across the lifespan</quotedText>”; and</content>
                    </clause>
                    <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/2/A/ii" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="ii">(ii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in the third sentence, by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">neurobiology</quotedText>” and all that follows through the period and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">neurobiology, genetics, genomics, psychopharmacology, developmental psychology, behavioral psychology, and clinical psychology.</quotedText>”; and</content>
                    </clause>
                </subparagraph>
                <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s2/2/B" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (3), by adding at the end the following:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="D">“(D) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Reducing disparities.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Director may consider, as appropriate, the extent to which a center can  demonstrate availability and access to clinical services for youth and adults from diverse racial, ethnic, geographic, or linguistic backgrounds in decisions about awarding grants to applicants which meet the scientific criteria for funding under this section.”</content>
                    </subparagraph></quotedContent>.</content>
                </subparagraph>
            </paragraph>
        </section>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">PROGRAMS RELATING TO AUTISM. </heading>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Developmental Disabilities Surveillance and Research Program.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 399AA of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 280i) is amended—</chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (a)(1), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">adults on autism spectrum disorder</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">adults with autism spectrum disorder</quotedText>”;</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (a)(2)—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/2/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">State and local public health officials</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">State, local, and Tribal public health officials</quotedText>”;</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/2/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">or other developmental disabilities</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">and other developmental disabilities</quotedText>”;</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/3" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">(3) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (a)(3), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">a university, or any other educational institution</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">a university, any other educational institution, an Indian tribe, or a tribal organization</quotedText>”;</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/4" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="4">(4) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (b)(2)(A), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">relevant State and local public health officials, private sector developmental disability researchers, and advocates for individuals with developmental disabilities</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">State, local, and Tribal public health officials, private sector developmental disability researchers, advocates for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, and advocates for individuals with other developmental disabilities</quotedText>”;</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/5" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="5">(5) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (d)—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/5/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by redesignating paragraphs (1) and (2) as paragraphs (2) and (3), respectively; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/5/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by inserting before paragraph (2), as so redesignated, the following new paragraph:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">“(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Indian tribe; tribal organization.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The terms ‘Indian tribe’ and ‘tribal organization’ have the meanings given such terms in section 4 of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act.”</content>
                        </paragraph></quotedContent>; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/a/6" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="6">(6) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (e), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">2019</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">2024</quotedText>”.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Autism Education, Early Detection, and Intervention.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 399BB of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 280i-1) is amended—</chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (a)(1)—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/1/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">individuals with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities</quotedText>”; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/1/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">children with autism spectrum disorder</quotedText>” and all that follows through  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">disabilities;</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities across their lifespan;</quotedText>”;</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (b)—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/2/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (2), by inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">individuals with</quotedText>” before  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">autism spectrum disorder</quotedText>”;</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/2/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by redesignating paragraphs (4) through (6) as paragraphs (5) through (7), respectively; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/2/C" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="C">(C) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by inserting after paragraph (3) the following:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="4">“(4) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">promote evidence-based screening techniques and interventions for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities across their lifespan;”</content>
                        </paragraph></quotedContent>;</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/3" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">(3) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (c)—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/3/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (1), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities and their families</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities across their lifespan and the needs of their families</quotedText>”; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/3/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (2)—</chapeau>
                        <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/3/B/i" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subparagraph (A)(ii), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">caregivers of individuals with an autism spectrum disorder</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">caregivers of individuals with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities</quotedText>”;</content>
                        </clause>
                        <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/3/B/ii" styleType="OLC">

                        </clause>
                        <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/3/B/iii" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="iii">(iii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subparagraph (B)(ii), by inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">autism spectrum disorder and</quotedText>” after  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">individuals with</quotedText>”;</content>
                        </clause>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/4" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="4">(4) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (e)—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/4/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (1)—</chapeau>
                        <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/4/A/i" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">across their lifespan</quotedText>” before  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">and ensure</quotedText>”; and</content>
                        </clause>
                        <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/4/A/ii" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="ii">(ii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subparagraph (B)(iv), by inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">across their lifespan</quotedText>” after  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">other developmental disabilities</quotedText>”;</content>
                        </clause>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/4/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by redesignating paragraphs (2) and (3) as paragraphs (3) and (4), respectively; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/b/4/C" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="C">(C) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by inserting after paragraph (1) the following:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">“(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Developmental-behavioral pediatrician training programs.—</heading>
                            <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">“(A) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In general.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">In making awards under this subsection, the Secretary may prioritize awards to applicants that are developmental-behavioral pediatrician training programs located in rural or underserved areas.</content>
                            </subparagraph>
                            <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">“(B) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Definition of underserved area.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">In this paragraph, the term ‘<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">underserved area</quotedText>’ means—</chapeau>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">“(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">a health professional shortage area (as defined in section 332(a)(1)(A)); and</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">

                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/d/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (b)—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/d/2/A" styleType="OLC">

                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">“(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In general.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of the Autism CARES Act of 2019, the Secretary shall prepare and submit, to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate and the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the House of Representatives, a report concerning the health and well-being of individuals with autism spectrum disorder.”</content>
                        </paragraph></quotedContent>; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/d/2/C" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="C">(C) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (2)—</chapeau>
                        <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/d/2/C/i" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by amending subparagraph (A) to read as follows:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                            <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">

                        </clause>
                        <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/d/2/C/iii" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="iii">(iii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by amending subparagraphs (C), (D), and (E) to read as follows:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                            <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="C">“(C) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">recommendations on establishing best practices guidelines to ensure interdisciplinary coordination between all relevant service providers receiving Federal funding;</content>
                            </subparagraph>
                            <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="D">“(D) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">comprehensive approaches to improving health outcomes and well-being for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, including—</chapeau>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">“(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">community-based behavioral supports and interventions;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">nutrition, recreational, and social activities; and</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="iii">“(iii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">personal safety services related to public safety agencies or the criminal justice system for such individuals; and</content>
                                </clause>
                            </subparagraph>
                            <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="E">“(E) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">recommendations that seek to improve health outcomes for such individuals, including across their lifespan, by addressing—</chapeau>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">“(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">screening and diagnosis of children and adults;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">behavioral and other therapeutic approaches;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="iii">“(iii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">primary and preventative care;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="iv">“(iv) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">communication challenges;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="v">“(v) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">aggression, self-injury, elopement, and other behavioral issues;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="vi">“(vi) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">emergency room visits and acute care hospitalization;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="vii">“(vii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">treatment for co-occurring physical and mental health conditions;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="viii">“(viii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">premature mortality;</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="ix">“(ix) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">medical practitioner training; and</content>
                                </clause>
                                <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="x">“(x) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">caregiver mental health.”</content>
                                </clause>
                            </subparagraph></quotedContent>.</content>
                        </clause>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/e" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="e">(e) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Authorization of Appropriations.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 399EE of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 280i-4) is amended—</chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/60/s3/e/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in subsection (a), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">$22,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2015 through 2019</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">$23,100,000 for each of fiscal years 2020 through 2024</quotedText>”;</content>
                </paragraph>
