    <main style="-uslm-dtd:legis-body"><longTitle><docTitle style="-uslm-dtd:legis-type">AN ACT</docTitle><officialTitle style="-uslm-dtd:official-title">To require a new or updated Federal website that is intended for use by the public to be mobile friendly, and for other purposes.</officialTitle></longTitle><enactingFormula style="-uslm-dtd:enacting-clause">Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/115/114/s1" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><editorialNote style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference" role="uscRef"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t44/s101">44 U.S.C. 101 note</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">SHORT TITLE. </heading>
            <content style="-uslm-dtd:text" class="block">This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Connected Government Act</shortTitle>”.</content>
        </section>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/115/114/s2" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">FEDERAL WEBSITES REQUIRED TO BE MOBILE FRIENDLY. </heading>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/115/114/s2/a" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Amendment.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Subchapter II of chapter 35 of title 44, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="USC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3559">“§ 3559. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Federal websites required to be mobile friendly </heading>
                    <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">“(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In General.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">If, on or after the date that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this section, an agency creates a website that is intended for use by the public or conducts a redesign of an existing legacy website that is intended for use by the public, the agency shall ensure to the greatest extent practicable that the website is mobile friendly.</content>
                    </subsection>
                    <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">“(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Definitions.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">In this section:</chapeau>
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">“(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Agency.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The term ‘<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">agency</quotedText>’ has the meaning given that term in section 551 of title 5.</content>
                        </paragraph>
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">“(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Mobile friendly.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The term ‘<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">mobile friendly</quotedText>’ means, with respect to a website, that the website is configured in such a way that the website may be navigated, viewed, and accessed on a smartphone, tablet computer, or similar mobile device.”</content>
                        </paragraph>
                    </subsection>
                </section></quotedContent>.</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/115/114/s2/b" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><editorialNote style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference" role="uscRef"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t44/s3501">44 U.S.C. 3501</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Technical and Conforming Amendment.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 35 of title 44, United States Code, is amended by adding after the item related to section 3558 the following new item:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                <toc style="-uslm-dtd:toc">
                    <referenceItem style="-uslm-dtd:toc-entry" role="section"><designator>“3559.</designator><label> Federal websites required to be mobile friendly.”</label></referenceItem>
                </toc></quotedContent>.</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/115/114/s2/c" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="c">(c) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Report by OMB and GSA Required.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Not later than 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, in consultation with the Administrator of General Services, shall make publicly available and submit to Congress a report that—</chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/115/114/s2/c/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">describes the implementation of the requirement described under section 3559 of title 44, United States Code, as added by subsection (a); and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/115/114/s2/c/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">assesses the compliance of each agency with such requirement.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
