<summary-text><![CDATA[<p><b>Protecting Our Communities and Rights Act of 2018</b></p> <p>This bill authorizes state grants to implement laws that permit courts to issue extreme risk protection orders. An extreme risk protection order is a state court order that prohibits an individual from purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm. </p> <p>Additionally, the bill expands the categories of persons who are prohibited from receiving or possessing a firearm or ammunition. Specifically, it adds a new category of prohibited persons&#8212;persons who are subject to a court order that restrains them from possessing a firearm.</p>]]></summary-text>
