<summary-text><![CDATA[<p><strong>Protecting against Opioid Prescription-abuse during Prenatal Year Study Act or the POPPY Study Act</strong></p> <p>This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to submit a report to Congress that includes details regarding:</p> <ul> <li>opioid prescribing practices for pregnant women,</li> <li>recommendations for identifying and reducing opioid misuse during pregnancy, </li> <li>prescription opioid use and misuse during pregnancy in urban and rural areas,</li> <li>the use of non-opioid pain management practices in place of prescription opioids during pregnancy,</li> <li>guidelines encouraging the use of non-opioid pain management practices during pregnancy when safe and effective, and</li> <li>recommendations for increasing public awareness and education regarding opioid use disorder in pregnancy. </li> </ul>]]></summary-text>
