<summary-text><![CDATA[<p><b>Opioids and STOP Pain Initiative Act</b></p> <p>This bill establishes and provides funds for the Opioids and STOP Pain Initiative at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support pain-related research, including:</p> <ul> <li>understanding pain, therapies for chronic pain, and alternatives to opioids for pain treatment as directed in the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016; </li> <li>improving options and evidence for medication-assisted treatment and opioid overdose reversal treatments; and</li> <li>supporting the Federal Pain Research Strategy.</li></ul> <p>NIH must establish the Pain Therapy Screening Program to award grants to support the development of new pre-clinical models for pain disorders, and the application of these models in drug, device, or other therapy screening.</p>]]></summary-text>
