        <text><![CDATA[ <p><b>Practical Automated Vehicle Exemptions Act or the PAVE Act</b></p> <p>This bill increases the annual number of vehicles that may be exempted from federal motor vehicle safety standards for the development of new vehicle safety features.</p> <p> It makes a manufacturer eligible for an exemption from certain standards relating to a bumper standard if the Department of Transportation (DOT) determines that the manufacturer's total motor vehicle production in the most recent year of production is not more than 10,000.</p> <p>A manufacturer is eligible for an exemption from other standards if DOT determines that the exemption is for not more than a specified number of vehicles in any 12-month period. </p> <p>The bill puts a cap on renewals of exemptions.</p>]]></text>
