<enactingFormula style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa­tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
<section id="d143462e62" identifier="/us/bill/113/hr/3548/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I650146"><num value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Improving Trauma Care Act of 2014</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d143462e72" identifier="/us/bill/113/hr/3548/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I650141"><num value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>TRAUMA DEFINITION.</heading><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d143462e76" identifier="/us/bill/113/hr/3548/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Revised Definition Under Trauma Systems Grants Programs</inline>.—</heading><content>Paragraph (4) of section 1231 of the Public Health Service Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s300d–31">42 U.S.C. 300d–31</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> to read as follows:<quotedContent><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">“(4) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Trauma</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The term ‘<term>trauma</term>’ means an injury resulting from exposure to—</chapeau><subparagraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:I650124"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>a mechanical force; or</content></subparagraph><subparagraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:I650124"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>another extrinsic agent, including an extrinsic agent that is thermal, electrical, chemical, or radioactive.”</content></subparagraph></paragraph></quotedContent>.</content></subsection><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d143462e109" identifier="/us/bill/113/hr/3548/s2/b" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Revised Definition Under Interagency Program for Trauma Research</inline>.—</heading><content>Paragraph (3) of section 1261(h) of the Public Health Service Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s300d–61/h">42 U.S.C. 300d–61(h)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> to read as follows:<quotedContent><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">“(3) </num><chapeau>The term ‘<term>trauma</term>’ means an injury resulting from exposure to—</chapeau><subparagraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:I650124"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>a mechanical force; or</content></subparagraph><subparagraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:I650124"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>another extrinsic agent, including an extrinsic agent that is thermal, electrical, chemical, or radioactive.”</content></subparagraph></paragraph></quotedContent>.</content></subsection></section>
