<section id="H6F4FD99E895E48E398538E91177FC883" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Stop the Sexualization of Children Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HFFBABC17A683442396FA9FCED8DAF855" commented="no"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibiting funding for sexually oriented material</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 8526 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7906">20 U.S.C. 7906</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HB31AC41BDE9A485492B318BC27479B7E" commented="no"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>No funds under this Act may be used—</quote> and inserting the following: </text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H6F650AFA73714DCB9864579580231D8F" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subsection id="H7425B44874C64D258D3D4AF89256D9E5" commented="no"><enum>(a)</enum><header>General prohibitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No funds under this Act may be used—</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H06C7E4F1263A40EB91795F2B01E9E021" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="HBCA125BEC17547D3909A2C0E18AF82E9" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subsection id="H56E0BA02E91D467B9F1E277E40773E8A" commented="no"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Prohibiting funding for sexually oriented material</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"></text> 
<paragraph id="HFEC9B214F3784CFCB89529D6324B9870" commented="no"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No funds under this Act may be used to develop, implement, facilitate, host, or promote any program or activity for, or to provide or promote literature or other materials to, children under the age of 18 that includes sexually oriented material, including any program, activity, literature, or material that exposes such children to nude adults, individuals who are stripping, or lewd or lascivious dancing.</text> </paragraph> <paragraph id="HBDC6FFACA10343AA87F389098E65B328"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Rule of construction</header><text>Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to prohibit the use of funds under this Act for, or otherwise limit or interfere with, teaching—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HB7EFB6F649054274AADCD57EFB50B790"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">standard science coursework, including biology, botany, zoology, microbiology, cytology, genetics, ecology, human health, or human anatomy and physiology;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H0D2702104CF14C0DB813E6B59DA37FAC"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the texts of major world religions;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HDC24D463F2B64C52B6E5B83EB18E27AB"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">classic works of literature; or</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H8AADC9766A4A4C44A69E7A23298713A4"><enum>(D)</enum><text>classic works of art.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H92035700EFD84519B772BC9EA95E762F" commented="no"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this subsection:</text> <subparagraph id="HF6E1A075B71D49D590790BA7B1097E23"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Classic works of art</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>classic works of art</term> means the works of art depicted, referenced, or otherwise represented in Smarthistory guide to AP Art History, volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 (2019–2020), published by Smarthistory. </text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H3CF7CA741FA7400A973D88A15232603F"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Classic works of literature</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>classic works of literature</term> means the works of literature (including translations of such works)—</text> <clause id="HB8BE929A93F947B5BDE9416E5ACAB8AF"><enum>(i)</enum><text>included in the Great Books of the Western World (second edition, 1990), published by Encyclopaedia Britannica;</text></clause> 
<clause id="H9A302F2895BD436BBB9C265328792237" commented="no"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>referenced in the article <quote>Classics Every Middle Schooler Should Read</quote> by Thomas Purifoy, Jr. and published by Compass Classroom (as such article appeared on the date of enactment of this subsection); and</text></clause> <clause id="H2D6B131B4C7A4EE8B8DFFA971E68B95D" commented="no"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>referenced in the article <quote>Classics Every High Schooler Should Read</quote> by Mary Pierson Purifoy and published by Compass Classroom (as such article appeared on the date of enactment of this subsection). </text></clause></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H5EB250B46C0A4902BF77486853206D1B" commented="no"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Sexually oriented material</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>sexually oriented material</term> means material that—</text> <clause id="H0A2C0A5D62634165AD2BB0BCF5A631C0"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">includes any depiction, description, or simulation of sexually explicit conduct (as defined in subparagraphs (A) and (B) of section 2256(2) of title 18, United States Code); or</text> </clause> 
<clause id="HCF43E2ADB6484DFD8A83557B922BE139"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism.</text> </clause></subparagraph> </paragraph> </subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> </legis-body></bill>
