<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 70</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250113">January 13, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S355">Mr. Cruz</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S374">Mr. Cotton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S407">Mr. Hagerty</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S317">Mr. Barrasso</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S384">Mr. Tillis</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S404">Mr. Scott of Florida</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S396">Mrs. Blackburn</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFR00">Committee on Foreign Relations</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the imposition of sanctions with respect to Ansarallah and its officials, agents, or affiliates for acts of international terrorism.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="id1A751DB212CE4283ACB6C9DA85675ADB"><enum>1.</enum><header>Imposition of sanctions with respect to Ansarallah</header><subsection id="id93a54903c1da49aa95e93a7e958fd938"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President shall designate Ansarallah as a foreign terrorist organization pursuant to section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1189">8 U.S.C. 1189</external-xref>).</text></subsection><subsection id="id258ef3af5d2c4597be38cd03d70845c7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Determination required</header><text>Not later than 30 days after the President makes the designation required by subsection (a), the President shall submit to the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives a determination regarding whether the following foreign persons are officials, agents, or affiliates of Ansarallah:</text><paragraph id="idb687eaf23d7b4734b41bc2d8d3544dab"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Abdul Malik al-Houthi.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1e7f276c120d4537920d517d5833b81a"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Abd al-Khaliq Badr al-Din al-Houthi.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idfece00c00e2e4949bfbf69f99aa950cf"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idC9D137010DB740BFBF95C69823DA7867"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Ansarallah defined</header><text>In this section, the term <term>Ansarallah</term> means the movement known as Ansarallah, the Houthi movement, or any other alias.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
