<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 547</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250212">February 12, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S402">Ms. Rosen</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S252">Ms. Collins</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of Labor to conduct a study and issue a report on grant programs to support the nursing workforce.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="S1"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Train More Nurses Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idc9e9192c509d46dfad20f8d21a631076"><enum>2.</enum><header>Review of and report on programs supporting the nursing workforce</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of Labor, jointly, shall—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id6323aa6a3f644a0d962ef4f83869464e"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">conduct a review of all grant programs carried out by the Department of Health and Human Services or the Department of Labor that support the nurse workforce; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id24b4e4839a154c9181881a7b63ef93b1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, submit to Congress a report on the review under paragraph (1) that includes recommendations for changes to such grant programs to improve upon the goals of—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idcb4516f73dd44daa99f25998a7702059"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">increasing nurse faculty, particularly in underserved areas;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idd6ea0bdbf11748a38f6c8fe478c67ec3"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">providing pathways for nurses who have more than 10 years of clinical experience to become faculty at schools of nursing; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id51ac232a0582467992b88e27a9e93794"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">encouraging and increasing the nursing pipeline through pathways for licensed practical nurses to become registered nurses. </text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
