<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2916</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250919" legis-day="20250916">September 19 (legislative day, September 16), 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S435">Mr. Sheehy</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To remove the requirement that the Secretary of Transportation consider the committed or anticipated non-Federal funding for long distance intercity passenger rail routes under the Corridor Identification and Development Program.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Long-Distance Corridor Relief Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1545365ebb4949db8c750017ba13b9ca"><enum>2.</enum><header>Modification of consideration requirement of non-Federal funding for corridor selection</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 25101(c) of title 49, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7dceb865555a42f7ac1bcd64f087fb24"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraphs (1) through (14) as subparagraphs (A) through (N), respectively, and indenting such subparagraphs, as so redesignated, 2 ems to the right;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id08768b878cfa45f297dd1f4f8d03a64a"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>In selecting</quote> and inserting the following:</text><quoted-block id="idC886168A72D74D30B6EA22488C896E62" style="OLC" act-name=""><paragraph id="idD0A72073BB5D4868962E3D7EC6123504"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>In selecting</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id62f5b579d8fc44f0a3f4021495ef2729"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in subparagraph (F), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>committed or</quote> and by inserting <quote>except as provided in paragraph (2), committed or</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idb7f7028e2b944b388cc0cb0808b3c805"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block id="id1CAEA219409B4F34877581FECB0BDA71" style="OLC" act-name=""><paragraph id="idC262E67D80A8430688E5B2FACD43C629"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Exception for long-distance route corridor</header><text>For the purposes of this subsection, the Secretary shall not consider committed or anticipated non-Federal funding for operating or capital costs for any intercity passenger rail corridor on a long-distance route.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
