<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2707</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250904">September 4, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S438">Mr. Husted</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAF00">Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to exclude certain student income from eligibility determinations, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="ide93452ff8dfb4b55b69a9e0f929b264d" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Food Eligibility for Education and Development Act of 2025</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>FEED Act of 2025</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idd6aa75b93fe5495da4d03f918fdaf83c" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion for income of students</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(d) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2014">7 U.S.C. 2014(d)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idb90d60cd2be84447b07d12515abafb88"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (18), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0629a45b8ad94e4885069aed802dcb9c"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (19)(B), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id52c1ab72d30b423d9ee90b250b4ca0f6"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idDFE78073C94D4377B4CDE209E1204F80"><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id147595fa90234736b499838d8a5beb54"><enum>(20)</enum><text>income received by a household member under the age of 21—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7130adda377c4d56b82d2a5def31cf70"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">who—</text><clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id779cdeb16de648f9b160b8c4012434c8"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is a student participating in career and technical education (as defined in section 3 of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/2302">20 U.S.C. 2302</external-xref>)); and </text></clause><clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id5cd8497394c943b5bd8d7baf2efa6d88"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">lives with—</text><subclause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id73ca0f9ea3ef419cad911ad738211744"><enum>(I)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a natural, adoptive, or step parent; or </text></subclause><subclause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id78693c021ba54e529302b55ab65a6dac"><enum>(II)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is under the parental control of a household member other than a parent described in subclause (I); </text></subclause></clause></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idaf622c4354bc4d028806594efc2b9815"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">that is derived from an apprenticeship, internship, or work-based learning program that is a component of the career and technical education described in subparagraph (A)(i) in which the student is participating; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id8ecf55a6b4f04fa6850802f1fca6c0fd"><enum>(C)</enum><text>that is determined by the Secretary through procedures established by the Secretary to verify the requirements in subparagraphs (A) and (B), including documentation of enrollment in career and technical education (as so defined) and confirmation of the age and household relationship of the household member.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
