which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study to assess the suitability and feasibility of establishing the Camden Battlefield area in the State of South Carolina as a unit of the National Park System, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Camden National Battlefield Park Study Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id6c699c1a5e0e4fa2975a71d5b5ef5e1b"><enum>2.</enum><header>Camden Battlefield area study</header><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id45e5372f9373449ba462422af6886be2"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ida5dbb80abd59489294f85f5c4f3334e4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the Secretary of the Interior.</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idf467eefc8b144a758fa0c7c070622590"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Study area</header><text>The term <quote>Study Area</quote> means the following affiliated areas of the National Park System:</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ide8ded4f8482b4d0c92beb43781aed1d5"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The site of the Battle of Camden fought in South Carolina on August 16, 1780, and any other resources in the area that relate to the Revolutionary War.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0954fd967c384c72bac4711a74afb324"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Historic Camden, South Carolina.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id1e0d4e7b5d40428ab2cc3321c0201317"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Study required</header><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id3ddd7eed04e846d9be9a525d25dbfaec"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall conduct a special resource study of the Study Area—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id2b49b3dccc2f48b38eb3b07e41eae108"><enum>(A)</enum><text>to evaluate the national significance of the Study Area;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id12cce264d7f4409292434cda03f44768"><enum>(B)</enum><text>to determine the suitability and feasibility of designating the Study Area as a unit of the National Park System, to be known as <quote>Camden National Battlefield Park</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="ida5289f6e78df4a5fa67e6bf3169d2d67"><enum>(C)</enum><text>to determine the methods and means for the protection and interpretation of the Study Area by the National Park Service, other entities of the Federal Government or State or local government, or private or nonprofit organizations;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id20aea2eb0c334ffbac0f986ed71cac37"><enum>(D)</enum><text>to determine the viability of a local partnership model for the management of the Study Area and the transferability of existing management structures; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="ida98e8138b60441398143cb04a08384f5"><enum>(E)</enum><text>to identify cost estimates for any Federal development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance of the Study Area.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id32c8270a751a4774a6409c0d3ecf289a"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Consultation</header><text>In conducting the study under paragraph (1), the Secretary shall consult with interested Federal agencies, State and local government entities, private and nonprofit organizations, and any other interested individuals.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id62fb50106cce4551b0cdaf02f8bed4a3"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Applicable law</header><text>The study required under subsection (b) shall be conducted in accordance with section 100507 of title 54, United States Code.</text></subsection><subsection id="idb22b040d2d9c4475bcf673950b02e9ad"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are first made available to carry out the study required under subsection (b), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate and the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives a report containing—</text><paragraph id="id70ac573763c4444cbda30adefe2a00a2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the results of the study; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1776d99c448e4ae7ac9e5ab996ea5792"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any recommendations of the Secretary.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
