<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2294</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250715">July 15, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S252">Ms. Collins</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S394">Ms. Smith</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S363">Mr. King</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To reauthorize the Kay Hagan Tick Act, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Kay Hagan Tick Reauthorization Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idba3d36a7c69443b686e6f639f72b14d7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization of programs</header><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id3cb47a7c8a104d65aaccf1aeb1c70cb9"> <enum>(a)</enum> <header display-inline="yes-display-inline">National strategy and regional centers of excellence in vector-Borne disease</header> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 317U of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/247b-23">42 U.S.C. 247b–23</external-xref>) is amended—</text>

          <enum>(1)</enum>
 <text>in subsection (b), in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking <quote>the Tick-Borne Disease Working Group established under section 2062 of the 21st Century Cures Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/284s">42 U.S.C. 284s</external-xref>) and other individuals, as appropriate</quote> and inserting <quote>appropriate individuals</quote>; and</text>

          <enum>(2)</enum>
 <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (f), by striking <quote>$10,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2021 through 2025</quote> and inserting <quote>$8,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2030</quote>.</text>

        <enum>(b)</enum>
        <header>Enhanced support To assist health departments in addressing vector-Borne
          diseases</header>
 <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2822(c) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300hh-32">42 U.S.C. 300hh–32(c)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>$20,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2021 through 2025</quote> and inserting <quote>$19,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2030</quote>.</text>
