        <official-title>To prohibit States and local governments from prohibiting or limiting the
            connection, reconnection, modification, installation, transportation, distribution, or
            expansion of an energy service based on the type or source of energy to be delivered,
            and for other purposes.</official-title>

            <header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Energy Choice Act</short-title></quote>.</text>

            <enum>2.</enum>
            <header>Definition of energy</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act, the term <term>energy</term> includes—</text>

                <enum>(1)</enum>
 <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">natural gas;</text> </paragraph> <paragraph id="idad976f1daea44c609ef6e685f135a67c"> <enum>(2)</enum> <text>renewable natural gas;</text>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph id="id693ae67969d44bafbba35a572f6562ca">
                <enum>(3)</enum>
 <text>hydrogen;</text> </paragraph> <paragraph id="id702cb4a1112d44e5ab54086d3ee28d77"> <enum>(4)</enum> <text>liquified petroleum gas;</text>
            </paragraph>
            <paragraph id="id570a7ce36cc04754ae25599ad85010f9">
                <enum>(5)</enum>
 <text>renewable liquified petroleum gas;</text> </paragraph> <paragraph id="id5001e2cba27a435dbaea6ee1ba3569ab"> <enum>(6)</enum> <text>other liquid petroleum products;</text>
            </paragraph>

 <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">biomass-based diesel fuels and renewable fuels; and</text>
            </paragraph>

 <text>electricity.</text> </paragraph> </section> <section id="HD6FE7A450F014CEA8A40FBBC1B1F499C"> <enum>3.</enum> <header>Limitation on regulation of energy choice</header> <text display-inline="no-display-inline">A State or local government, including any instrumentality or regulatory agency of a State or local government, may not adopt, implement, or enforce a law, regulation, ordinance, building code, standard, or policy that prohibits or limits, or has the effect of directly or indirectly prohibiting or limiting, the connection, reconnection, modification, installation, transportation, distribution, or expansion of, or access to, an energy service based on the type or source of energy sold in interstate commerce to be delivered to an end-user of that energy service.</text>
