<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1517</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250429">April 29, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S376">Ms. Ernst</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S266">Mr. Crapo</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S398">Mr. Cramer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S437">Mr. Justice</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S153">Mr. Grassley</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S355">Mr. Cruz</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S293">Mr. Graham</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S323">Mr. Risch</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S411">Mr. Marshall</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S346">Mr. Lee</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S423">Mr. Ricketts</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S378">Mr. Lankford</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S399">Mr. Hawley</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S365">Mr. Scott of South Carolina</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S395">Mrs. Hyde-Smith</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To include sexual assault and aggravated sexual violence in the definition of aggravated felony under the Immigration and Nationality Act in order to expedite the removal of aliens convicted of any such crime.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="id315F80FF7209446E80B469554F314786"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short titles</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Better Enforcement of Grievous Offenses by unNaturalized Emigrants</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>BE GONE Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="idDA3A4757ED0C4948BE388F360AEE6FDB"><enum>2.</enum><header>Expanding the definition of aggravated felonies under the Immigration and Nationality Act</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 101(a)(43) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(43)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="idBB617B599DED4BF28641D13C9FC5D032"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (T), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id112B22957B7647659771E7F22E18E2C4"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (U), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7AF2B73292D54685A2A47158EAD0C975"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id6DEEB4D424164399A4F0F5F62F1128DF"><subparagraph id="idE1AD31B9B2E14D899E578DB67E5FD316" indent="up1"><enum>(V)</enum><text>sexual assault and aggravated sexual violence.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
