Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to authorize Federal agencies to provide certain essential assistance for hazard mitigation for electric utilities, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H3E24BCA7C0C945C88CBA4A4E81D6E550"><pagebreak></pagebreak><section section-type="section-one" id="H5CC511A1A5BF46EDA011670763F03BF7"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Promoting Opportunities to Widen Electrical Resilience Act of 2025</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>POWER Act of 2025</short-title></quote> .</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="H723CF27C7BB84B4493C26167C9F93C95"><enum>2.</enum><header>Essential assistance</header><subsection id="H7407AA876E5C439C9BE30605075C6C2B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5170b">42 U.S.C. 5170b</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAE0E612C87B24DCE9C6C0AB11855974C"><subsection commented="no" id="HDC483CC4E5454BEB84961BD1FFB5EB45"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Electric utilities</header><paragraph commented="no" id="H56E92389BDC74FC8848CB46EFE39FD51"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Hazard mitigation activities</header><text>An electric utility may carry out cost-effective hazard mitigation activities jointly or otherwise in combination with activities for the restoration of power carried out with assistance provided under this section.</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" id="HE81B185BD38240DC9240D06C613CDBE2"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Eligibility for additional assistance</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In any case in which an electric utility facility receives assistance under this section for the emergency restoration of power, the receipt of such assistance shall not render such facility ineligible for any hazard mitigation assistance under section 406 for which such facility is otherwise eligible.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H73960A8F3F134914821A16D381B2107F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall only apply to amounts appropriated on or after the date of enactment of this Act. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
