<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1426</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250410">April 10, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S420">Mr. Schmitt</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 5, United States Code, to designate Easter Monday as a legal public holiday.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Easter Monday Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id51d8857140c1449bb257a55cb6894669"><enum>2.</enum><header>Easter Monday as a legal public holiday</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 6103(a) of title 5, United States Code, is amended by inserting after the item relating to Washington’s Birthday the following:</text><quoted-block id="idE78D833DD9F64F6E981754DA4C436DE4" style="OLC" act-name=""><paragraph id="id6AE972B2324146F79B5A5A170B2B7700"><enum/><text>Easter Monday, the first Monday that occurs after the first Sunday that occurs after the full Moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox (commonly known as <quote>Easter Sunday</quote>).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
