<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1350</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250408">April 8, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S412">Mr. Tuberville</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAF00">Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To modify the boundaries of the Talladega National Forest, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="id056096e3a4cc42c4b7fc977b8c01bbde"><enum>1.</enum><header>Talladega National Forest boundary modification</header><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id71dab2d6808341fda97f1e33fbe137a6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The boundaries of the Talladega National Forest are modified to include the land depicted on the map entitled <quote>Talladega National Forest Proposed Proclamation Boundary Addition</quote> and dated September 6, 2024.</text></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ida6dbfdbf12ab4a8cb91d1988cb3edba1"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Map</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The map described in subsection (a) shall be on file and available for public inspection in the appropriate office of the Forest Service. </text></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id54acc8a6bdb34f94bc63c517a602cd82"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Acquisitions</header><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id814655a0910d48c98d8ddecdfd19c31d"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Within the area delineated on the map described in subsection (a), the Secretary of Agriculture may use the land acquisition authorities applicable to the National Forest System, including the Act of March 1, 1911 (commonly known as the <quote>Weeks Law</quote>) (36 Stat. 961, chapter 186; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/552">16 U.S.C. 552 et seq.</external-xref>), to acquire land, waters, and interests therein. </text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0d4ef6239f6f481bb90db770ed1f8ae1"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Management</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Land acquired pursuant to paragraph (1) shall be managed as land acquired under the Act of March 1, 1911 (commonly known as the <quote>Weeks Law</quote>) (36 Stat. 961, chapter 186; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/552">16 U.S.C. 552 et seq.</external-xref>), and in accordance with all laws and regulations pertaining to the National Forest System.</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idabec23aa85404cacba38fa46a508e107"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Standards</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall ensure that any private land or waters and any interest in private land or waters acquired pursuant to paragraph (1) is acquired—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id4f82e2615b9c418cbffd307ae636f057"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">from a willing seller by donation, exchange, or purchase using donated or appropriated funds; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idd628391ae4f243528a8594343c82b2ea"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to the extent practicable, without undue delay.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
