<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1341</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250408">April 8, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S408">Mr. Hickenlooper</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S330">Mr. Bennet</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Colorado Wilderness Act of 1993 to add certain land to the Sarvis Creek Wilderness, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="S1"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Sarvis Creek Wilderness Completion Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0c40991026be490397a42e1858cbfa3d"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text><paragraph id="id4cb6404b08d74a59a3af4350d4aa69b7"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Sarvis creek wilderness addition</header><text>The term <term>Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition</term> means the land added to the Sarvis Wilderness by the amendment made by section 3(a).</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idcedd717858c845b1a69fbbf2878b051a"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of Agriculture.</text></paragraph></section><section id="id158749bb3ef741228c746c5a8c53a39f"><enum>3.</enum><header>Designation of Sarvis Creek Wilderness addition</header><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id36215714911c474c8f69f0c67082d4b2"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Designation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2(a)(11) of the Colorado Wilderness Act of 1993 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1132">16 U.S.C. 1132</external-xref> note; <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/103/77">Public Law 103–77</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>1993,</quote> and inserting <quote>1993, and certain land within the Routt National Forest that comprises approximately 6,817 acres, as generally depicted as <quote>Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition Proposal</quote> on the map entitled <quote>Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition Proposal</quote> and dated February 26, 2024,</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="id18b478d7d8f544178edcdae18e33057e"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Applicable law</header><text>The reference in section 4(d)(4) of the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1133">16 U.S.C. 1133(d)(4)</external-xref>) to the effective date of that Act shall be considered to be a reference to the date of enactment of this Act for purposes of administering the Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition.</text></subsection></section><section commented="no" id="idd2d72871f99944eda856af399bea50ce"><enum>4.</enum><header>Administrative provisions</header><subsection commented="no" id="idfc7618889cb04ca094630354ccbc5822"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Tribal rights and use</header><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id389c32f04ebe47c3802fb9e6a9f97965"><enum>(1)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Treaty rights</header><text>Nothing in this Act affects the treaty rights of any Indian Tribe.</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" id="id9C288D534B35449EBA5FE86F01189331"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Traditional tribal uses</header><text>The Secretary may, in accordance with applicable law, permit Indian Tribes access to, and use of, the Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition for traditional, religious, and cultural purposes. </text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id5DB5172204FB4A069ECDDA119D92544F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Fire, insects, and diseases</header><text>In accordance with section 4(d)(1) of the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1133">16 U.S.C. 1133(d)(1)</external-xref>), the Secretary may carry out any activity in the Sarvis Creek Wilderness Addition that the Secretary determines to be necessary for the control of fire, insects, and diseases, subject to such terms and conditions as the Secretary determines to be appropriate.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
