and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id091fe26584554e34943c6acb6caed16d"><enum>(K)</enum><text>for fiscal year 2036 and each fiscal year thereafter, the amount appropriated under this paragraph for the previous fiscal year, increased by the percentage increase (if any), during the previous fiscal year, in the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id35c6a2f9ff2d41b1ba531cb599396f12"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Availability</header><text>Amounts appropriated under subsection (a) shall remain available until expended.</text></subsection><subsection id="idf7618d12fab84ba78b323054f3e0a4cc"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text><paragraph id="id8291c27212554cdc88abed4f177521f4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Department of defense science and technology programs</header><text>The term <term>Department of Defense science and technology programs</term> means the appropriations accounts that support the various institutes, offices, and centers that make up the Department of Defense science and technology programs.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id122175581556422f92e173bc4299edef"><enum>(2)</enum><header>National science foundation</header><text>The term <term>National Science Foundation</term> means the appropriations accounts that support the various institutes, offices, and centers that make up the National Science Foundation.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idee38eeb125af40f589c46cc470bb0665"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Office of science at the department of energy</header><text>The term <term>Office of Science at the Department of Energy</term> means the appropriations accounts that support the various institutes, offices, and centers that make up the Department of Energy Office of Science.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id5813288a3c714314a64a564c79548f85"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Science mission directorate at the national aeronautics and space administration</header><text>The term <term>Science Mission Directorate at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration</term> means the appropriations accounts that support the various institutes, offices, and centers that make up the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Science Mission Directorate.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idbfcb010e34dd48a5a1954edc08afb9ee"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Scientific and technical research and services of the national institute of standards and technology</header><text>The term <term>scientific and technical research and services of the National Institute of Standards and Technology</term> means the appropriations accounts that support the various institutes, offices, and centers that make up the National Institute of Standards and Technology scientific and technical research and services.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id556282631d1d4d45acb3c1db752da837"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Exemption of certain appropriations from sequestration</header><paragraph id="id69e82fc4bfd743f8b800fa58b8f4c331"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 255(g)(1)(A) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/905">2 U.S.C. 905(g)(1)(A)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after <quote>Advances to the Unemployment Trust Fund and Other Funds (16–0327–0–1–600).</quote> the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id844ca9b82dc243048ef2bc614dfef6ba"><subparagraph id="id81ca33dd08314ae3a38169701cf7c28c"><enum/><text>Appropriations under the American Innovation Act.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph><paragraph id="id85257e92940c4fceabdb751d7ff143ab"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text>The amendment made by this section shall apply to any sequestration order issued under the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/900">2 U.S.C. 900 et seq.</external-xref>) on or after the date of enactment of this Act.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id47017dd3b9be439b985769dfb9df9204"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Budgetary effects</header><paragraph id="ide05eecdf105648a39141554d0aebe8c4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Statutory paygo scorecards</header><text>The budgetary effects of this section shall not be entered on either PAYGO scorecard maintained pursuant to section 4(d) of the Statutory Pay As-You-Go Act of 2010 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/933">2 U.S.C. 933(d)</external-xref>).</text></paragraph><paragraph id="ide7e93a0c30c54626bdaca284afb5a6b3"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Senate paygo scorecards</header><text>The budgetary effects of this section shall not be entered on any PAYGO scorecard maintained for purposes of section 4106 of H.
