<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1251</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20250402">April 2, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S439">Mrs. Moody</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S404">Mr. Scott of Florida</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To modify the minimum required weight of orange juice soluble solids.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="S1"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Defending Domestic Orange Juice Production Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="idB53AA3752E2E4809ACE44D0890EBFE5F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Revision of pasteurized orange juice standards</header><subsection id="id97DBC1A856AE46BE9EE258708E4D23B6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Effective on the date of enactment of this Act, the standard of identity for <quote>pasteurized orange juice</quote>, established in section 146.140 of title 21, Code of Federal Regulations, shall be deemed to require finished pasteurized orange juice to contain not less than 10.0 percent by weight of orange juice soluble solids, exclusive of the solids of any added optional sweetening ingredients.</text></subsection><subsection id="idCED0BF27F35645FBB3CA2314130121FA"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Regulation authority</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit the authority of the Secretary of Health and Human Services to promulgate regulations to amend the standard of identity for pasteurized orange juice.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
