RES. 800</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20251010">October 10, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001110">Mr. Correa</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="T000481">Ms. Tlaib</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Committee on Oversight and Government Reform</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Expressing profound sorrow over the death of Alexander Michel Odeh.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas Alexander Michel Odeh was born in Jifna, Palestine, on April 4, 1944, and resided in Orange County, California, for most of his adult life, including Santa Ana;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Alex Odeh was a peace activist who worked to promote civil liberties for Arab-Americans in the United States and for civil and human rights around the world; </text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Alex Odeh was also a published poet and a lecturer of Arabic language at Coastline College and California State University, Fullerton;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Alex Odeh was the Southern California Regional Director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) when, on October 11, 1985, he was killed when a pipe bomb exploded as he entered the ADC office in Santa Ana, California;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Alex Odeh is survived by his wife, Norma Odeh, and his three daughters, Helena Odeh, Samya Odeh, and Susan Odeh; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas those responsible for the act of domestic terrorism which killed Alex Odeh have yet to be brought to justice: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H2DCC18DD451B4167A3691121BD6211DE"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="HF9800708055147078C8CBE0012F49CA6"><enum/><text>That—</text><paragraph id="HEDB326F29E1B4752A422E5F27ED18A52"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the House of Representatives acknowledges with profound sorrow the death of Alexander Michel Odeh, a victim of domestic terrorism;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H0C12279C22B545708D6A027AE571150A"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the House of Representatives tenders its deep sympathy to the members of the family of the late Mr. Odeh and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in their bereavement;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H9A43B06CF655456E8115764EF4DDA825"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the Clerk of the House of Representatives will communicate this resolution to the Senate and transmit a copy thereof to the family of the deceased; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HFAD1771D41524AA3BE507549A666ACFA"><enum>(4)</enum><text>when the House of Representatives adjourns today, it adjourns as a further mark of respect to the memory of Mr. Odeh.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
