RES. 669</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250902">September 2, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="O000173">Ms. Omar</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="M001143">Ms. McCollum</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="E000294">Mr. Emmer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001119">Ms. Craig</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001212">Mr. Stauber</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001234">Ms. Morrison</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000470">Mrs. Fischbach</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="F000475">Mr. Finstad</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Committee on Oversight and Government Reform</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Honoring the victims and survivors of the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, on August 27, 2025, students and parishioners gathered at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis for a mass to welcome back students on their first week of school;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas their sense of peace was shattered when a shooter opened fire while they were in prayer, killing 2 children and injuring 21 others;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas first responders, including the Minneapolis Police Department, emergency medical teams and caregivers at the Children’s Minnesota Hospital and Hennepin Healthcare System, and Federal law enforcement, community members, and volunteers responded with courage and compassion; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the Annunciation Catholic community, local schools, families, and neighbors have shown strength and resilience in the face of this tragedy: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H6410C7FDD0174AD382E2E6B8AD358590"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H2EB6C0FFCAA3439CA816F92983058461"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives—</text><paragraph id="H6F1E8A9345B2407AAC00557F4AA66977"><enum>(1)</enum><text>condemns this senseless act of violence and offers its condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed and injured in the tragedy;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H169B435994824328A806AB5DE59FDD7B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>honors the memory of the victims and stands in solidarity with survivors, the Catholic community, and the broader Minneapolis community;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF4FC7F9AF0714F6EB5ACFD0626A77989"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">commends the bravery and service of law enforcement, first responders, medical caregivers, school and church staff, and community members who acted swiftly to protect and help others;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H01B9D22ECEE941CF9DE3ED31B47A1E57"><enum>(4)</enum><text>stands with the Annunciation community and all Minnesotans in the face of this terrible tragedy;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H791EAEE176BC43C29C18AD31B61E983B"><enum>(5)</enum><text>expresses hope that the Annunciation community, together with other communities scarred by violence across the country, will heal through unity, compassion, and shared faith;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H5D297487C29B48F5AA80668BAE20136B"><enum>(6)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">declares that there is no place for violence in our communities, and that everyone deserves to feel safe in their sacred places of worship and schools; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H84B2157FFCF844618447DB0D104828BE"><enum>(7)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">expresses solidarity with all faith communities and schools that have been scarred by such violence.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
