RES. 491</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250609">June 9, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001119">Ms. Craig</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HSO00">Committee on Ethics</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Amending the Rules of the House of Representatives to prohibit Members of Congress from owning individual stocks.</official-title></form><resolution-body style="OLC" id="H878C755CE986475191E381242F733178"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H9453088049084514AA40FD92EC8E6C3F"></section><section id="H28B81C04B6D64191AA89D8F13904FFB3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This resolution may be cited as the <quote><short-title>NO STOCK Resolution</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>No Option for Stock Trading and Ownership as a Check to Keep congress clean Resolution</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H6DA9AF2FD65B47E6B7121C099808FEF8"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibiting Members of House of Representatives from owning individual stocks</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Rule XXIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives (known as the <quote>Code of Official Conduct</quote>) is amended by redesignating clause 22 as clause 23 and inserting after clause 21 the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H78C95E3930274506A78EED755E236F34" display-inline="no-display-inline"><clause id="H58F4542C8F794F8AAA2D3D5548E0B7F2"><enum>(22)</enum><header>Prohibiting members of house of representatives from owning individual stocks</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner may not own the common stock of any individual public corporation.</text></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></resolution-body></resolution>
