RES. 258</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250326">March 26, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="W000814">Mr. Weber of Texas</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="C001051">Mr. Carter of Texas</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HSO00">Committee on Ethics</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Censuring Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, on March 22, 2025, Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas spoke at a Human Rights Campaign event in a manner unbecoming of a Member of Congress, calling the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, <quote>Governor Hot Wheels</quote>, and a <quote>hot ass mess</quote>; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the remarks from Representative Crockett are discriminatory in nature and are the latest in a continued series of inappropriate comments expressed by Representative Crockett, such as on May 16, 2024, during a hearing of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, when Representative Crockett espoused inflammatory comments about the appearance of another Member of Congress: Now, therefore be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H02FB7037C0E94EFA8D1B90E6ADB8ACEE"><section id="H573D7B4514F846E4AA88FD0512519F62" section-type="undesignated-section" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That—</text><paragraph id="H7A3FF313D548444BB77A8AB698C0EC75"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas be censured;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H8A5EFE53F8D64113A890EDB85BAB3C1F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Representative Jasmine Crockett forthwith present herself in the well of the House of Representatives for the pronouncement of censure; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H5FB54CC92F444ACBA3D95F69AE609EEE"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Representative Jasmine Crockett be censured with the public reading of this resolution by the Speaker.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
