<official-title display="yes">To amend section 3(b)(4) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 to exclude certain disability benefits from income for the purposes of determining eligibility for the supported housing program under section 8(o)(19), and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="HDAB2FEA6C91540DA8651D922C08F820E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Housing Unhoused Disabled Veterans Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section> <section id="H204192A2449E4B299BC0F3F33B2210B2"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion of certain disability benefits</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3(b)(4)(B) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1437a">42 U.S.C. 1437a(b)(4)(B)</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
<paragraph id="HD18165F8DA914A948207B8C2ADEC2462"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating clauses (iv) and (v) as clauses (vi) and (vii), respectively; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H7E40507BAC4D43B58B1872DC03CE2BCE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after clause (iii) the following:</text>

<clause id="H939A292838524383B89697A63D9F50D1"><enum>(iv)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">with respect to the supported housing program under section 8(o)(19), any disability benefits received under chapter 11 or <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/38/15">chapter 15</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code, received by a veteran, except that this exclusion may not apply to the definition of adjusted income;</text></clause> <clause id="H3A0F9C269A514E85979BF7B84F329AC0"><enum>(v)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">with respect to any household receiving rental assistance under the supported housing program under section 8(o)(19) as it relates to eligibility for other types of housing assistance, any disability benefits received under chapter 11 or <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/38/15">chapter 15</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code, received by a veteran, except that this exclusion may not apply to the definition of adjusted income; </text></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
<section id="H9FED17AEADE94EFDA3B0C6562B836D23" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header>Treatment of certain disability benefits</header>
<subsection id="H2EBDB46ADB194A7F9F63C24EC551FDA5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">When determining the eligibility of a veteran to rent a residential dwelling unit constructed on Department property on or after the date of the enactment of this Act, for which assistance is provided as part of a housing assistance program administered by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and not yet in existence at the time of the enactment of this section, the Secretary shall exclude from income any disability benefits received under chapter 11 or <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/38/15">chapter 15</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code by such person. </text></subsection> <subsection id="HAD54D6ABE5574DAB8B690FDF3CE4D00F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text>
<paragraph id="H27E1309F868947BBB75FE77BC1B165A4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H2809B435D0AE46E296ACBA153B9AB17B"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Department property</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>Department property</term> has the meaning given the term in section 901 of title 38, United States Code.</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
