<section id="HFB40DA814C6C46BBAE25E0F7707DD1CA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>American Consumer Awareness of National Source Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>American CANS Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section> <section id="H004768695EFE4C1490F49C24A84F4688"><enum>2.</enum><header>Method of notification of country of origin of an agricultural product packaged in a can</header> <subsection id="H67A98665B05343038BBDF280C20BA104"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 304(b) of the Tariff Act of 1930 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/19/1304">19 U.S.C. 1304(b)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after the first sentence the following: <quote>In the case of such an article that is an agricultural product (as defined in section 207 of the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946) packaged in a can, the marking required under this subsection shall appear on the front label of the can or be stamped, embossed, or printed on the top of the can.</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H108C710C11CB4889849F54F710CA177B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendment made by subsection (a) shall only apply to agricultural products imported on or after the date that is 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
