R. 700</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250123">January 23, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001224">Mr. Self</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the mission statement of the United States Military Academy to include the phrase <quote>Duty, Honor, Country</quote>.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H72B320B5809E40168C7F0BAE813E38E3" style="OLC"><section id="H169D85ED791343D2880396E7DC4D2174" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Maintaining Academy Culture and Assuring Retention of Tradition, Honor, and Unity of the Republic Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>MACARTHUR Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6FA3DB050CD74389A4019EB93A1FFE34"><enum>2.</enum><header>Sense of Congress</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">It is the sense of Congress that the principles of <quote>Duty, Honor, Country</quote> should be—</text><paragraph id="H56919292B762470ABFCAD43DA1261429"><enum>(1)</enum><text>deeply embedded in the ethos of the United States Military Academy; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H22A436A3DFC247E3A9E0AA8B4D1B8A46"><enum>(2)</enum><text>instilled in each cadet.</text></paragraph></section><section id="H6E3355A666BB49AB81BE286CD0138861"><enum>3.</enum><header>Modification of united states military academy mission statement</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of the Army shall amend the mission statement of the United States Military Academy to include the phrase <quote>Duty, Honor, Country</quote>.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
