<section id="H5A6FC37FB2154F8EB7860A58E9BC8661" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Government Evaluation, Notification, and Explanation of Reassignments and Accountability with Leadership Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>GENERAL Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section>
<section id="H8093EA8B798849E8889700AA54C94251"><enum>2.</enum><header>Enhanced leadership oversight procedures</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/10/80">Chapter 80</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="HFB525F706E0F418999020AE61247FCB1" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <section id="H74BD535092A74A5D9B4A90FDBC5415DE"><enum>1568.</enum><header>Notice of involuntary reassignment, separation, or retirement of general or flag officers</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 15 days after a general officer or flag officer is involuntarily reassigned, separated, or retired, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a written notification containing—</text> 
<paragraph id="H678BD5E0AB5C4012AC2FFC689633B655"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the rationale for the reassignment, separation, or retirement, including whether the reassignment, separation, or retirement was related to conduct, performance, policy disagreements, or other factors; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H53EC4FA089124FCB99A47A3A5CA157A6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>a summary of the process followed in reaching the decision to involuntarily reassign, separate, or retire the officer, including any consultations with the Secretary of the military department concerned.</text></paragraph></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </section>
