R. 507</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250116">January 16, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000581">Mr. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="F000466">Mr. Fitzpatrick</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001059">Mr. Costa</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000487">Ms. Tokuda</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001133">Mr. Ciscomani</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001285">Ms. Brownley</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000592">Mr. Golden of Maine</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001127">Mrs. Cherfilus-McCormick</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001078">Mr. Connolly</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001302">Mr. Biggs of Arizona</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="V000129">Mr. Valadao</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001063">Mr. Cuellar</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000468">Ms. Titus</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001278">Ms. Bonamici</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000562">Mr. Lynch</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001072">Mr. Carson</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000395">Mr. Rogers of Kentucky</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001053">Mr. Cole</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000583">Mr. Gottheimer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000579">Mr. Ryan</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000609">Mr. Rutherford</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001132">Mr. Crane</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Federal Credit Union Act to exclude extensions of credit made to veterans from the definition of a member business loan.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H1F75EF89D0A04735B6895CF46EC60F38" style="OLC"><section id="H881200B5D15E40CC98F170053721E7C8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans Member Business Loan Act</short-title></quote></text></section><section id="H7A47E3E970A54C11945CD272015A9865" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Member business loan definition</header><subsection id="H6C087944A58149879C42AE89EF8BCC03"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 107A(c) of the Federal Credit Union Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/12/1757a">12 U.S.C. 1757a(c)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HF043C8FA9FD74A27A995BB4EDC17A1BC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1)(B)—</text><subparagraph id="HAAD395811F1C4C85A8C8023C31DFB68C"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in clause (iv), by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HEBA3DA9AA767495A89139D49605EB349"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in clause (v), by striking the period and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H721EB2CA827841B1B8454F734B3AA7AA"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H87862530732249BFA72425A88BFAF7E3" style="OLC"><clause id="H1D77FD30FC0A4644BC5697B9BB43BC37"><enum>(vi)</enum><text>made to a veteran;</text></clause><after-quoted-block>;</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HA17D0733B86440008526979CC1AA6909"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HFE1E508A06004F4AA33643E4A152A6DA"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in paragraph (3), by striking the period and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H90B567A1CDE74D2EBA9BC54ABC271564"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H80FB23857F314792AC310F38E747C8AC" style="OLC"><paragraph id="H9A8D2A246A7345B19730E4031944AD5F"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the term <term>veteran</term> has the meaning given such term under section 101 of title 38, United States Code.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H73BC69C3262F4C5FBD69EA10A18F7275"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by subsection (a) shall take effect after the end of the 6-month period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
