<section id="H11A6E80AD5684CFDAB97F2C73DDDC09C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Increasing Nutrition Access for Seniors Act of 2025</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H311B7AD4856F4F7C983E3150A4EE81FD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendments</header> <subsection id="HEF1CC611694D4C48A75970013D9F09AF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3(f) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2012">7 U.S.C. 2012(f)</external-xref>) is amended in the second sentence by inserting <quote>, or 36 months if that household has no earned income</quote> before the period at the end.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H7728027B15B44540A74D2621FA123D30"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Excess medical expense deduction</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 5(e)(5)(A) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2014">7 U.S.C. 2014(e)(5)(A)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H22F18913868B44AB9BAF23EF3A0AD159"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>(i)</quote> before <quote>A</quote>, and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HD966A173A5FF4488AFBE1138E9BE73ED"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H56B30E22497F4E07AB5EB763D12F5BE9" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <clause id="H0315A263A2CE49858487FAB58411197C" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum> <subclause commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H92E3E7BB9C364990B22173EB6C1602F3"><enum>(I)</enum><text>A State agency may establish a standard medical deduction option for elderly or disabled household members who self-attest to having medical expenses in excess of $35 a month (exclusive of special diets).</text></subclause> 
<subclause id="HBDC3E91FD29D4618947B9A4F983A1B2B" indent="up1"><enum>(II)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The standard medical deduction amount shall be—</text> <item id="H3F0D938773544C3F98B7BAE54813C02C"><enum>(aa)</enum><text>for fiscal year 2026, $155; and</text></item> 
<item id="H3D427D2726504F8380787B7703011794"><enum>(bb)</enum><text>for each subsequent fiscal year, equal to the applicable amount for the immediately preceding fiscal year as adjusted to reflect changes for the 12-month period ending the preceding June 30 in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers: Medical Care published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department of Labor.</text></item></subclause> <subclause id="HF3284E912CFB442EB035FD1FD4C49D08" indent="up1"><enum>(III)</enum><text>For any fiscal year, a State agency may establish a greater standard medical expense deduction than described in subclause (II) if the State provides reasonable evidence for a more accurate assessment of average monthly medical costs in their State.</text></subclause></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HC68689FD1BE14462B380A361B35BEF38"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Administration</header><text>Section 11(e)(3) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2020">7 U.S.C. 2020(e)(3)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after <quote>this Act</quote> the second place it appears the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H272874AB041245F0817A66AB5011A49A" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <quoted-block-continuation-text quoted-block-continuation-text-level="section">(except that State agency may use data matches in lieu of income verification if the household qualifies for a 36-month certification period under section 3(f))</quoted-block-continuation-text><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section> <section id="H0B9B7FF700124FC083E0B3647FC653AF"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date; application of amendments</header> <subsection id="HF235E477CAD34E2181A574C12F4A6D14"><enum>(a)</enum><header> Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Except as provided in subsection (b), this Act and the amendments made by this Act shall take effect 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HEAB63BB0B62F4F0391BF777B73E557BF"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application of amendments</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this Act shall not apply with respect to certification periods that begin before the effective date of this Act.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
